The Decemberists' epic song cycle The Hazards Of Love takes on new life today with the release of Here Come The Waves: The Hazards Of Love Visualized , a full-length video album available exclusively through iTunes, the first of a kind for the digital retailer. Here Come The Waves, which was debuted live in Los Angeles in October to rave reviews, is a collaboration with four filmmakers—Peter Sluszka, Julia Pott, Guilherme Marcondes, and Santa Maria—each of whom created original animation to accompany a section of the album. It would seem this generation now has its own version of The Wall , or least Fantasia! as the fantastical latest effort from The Decemberists , The Hazards of Love , now has a full-length visual companion. While this trailer suggests that the film doesn't seem to correspond to the sordid tale being told (something frontman Colin Meloy intimated would be the case with any such project when we talked to him last March), it does play off the vaguely psychedelic and pastoral British folk elements that underlie the music. P4K is reporting that the Decemberists are transforming their conceptual The Hazards of Love album into a full-length animated video titled, Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized . Thankfully the band did not draw the entire film with their quill and ink, instead they used the services of Guilherme Marcondes, Julia Pott, Peter Sluszka and Santa Maria to animate and "accompany individual sections of music from the album."
