1990s Britpop nostalgia was in full force at the Brits awards on Tuesday, as reunited Blur played the Brits Awards in London on Tuesday - here's a clip of the band playing "Girls & Boys" and "Song 2". Fun, I guess.

Blur are on a bit of a roll the past few days with the announcement of performing at the closing ceremony concert for the 2012 Olympics, debuting a brand new song last week and now putting on a 5 song set for the Brit Awards. Blur also took home the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. Check out the five-song greatest hits set, which includes 'Tender', 'Girls & Boys', 'Song 2', 'Parklife' and 'This Is A Low'.

Blur received a Brit award last night for "outstanding contribution to music." The band played an 11-minute set consisting of career-spanning highlights ("Girls & Boys,” “Song 2,” “Parklife,” “Tender,” and my all-time favorite Blur song, “This Is A Low”). Having just played a few nights prior at the War Child benefit (see previous post), this flurry of Blur activity is certainly getting my hopes up that a new record will eventually surface. Blur's big festival-circuit reunion tour came three years ago, and the group has mostly been inactive since then, though co-leaders Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon did get together to debut new song " Under The Westway " a few nights ago. So last night The Brit Awards took place in London with the music industry sipping on buckets full of wine and a fair few bits of controversy to boot. We'll get to that in a little while though. The 2012 Brit Awards took place this evening in London and, like most award shows these days, the performances clearly overshadow the actual getting of awards. This was no different as Blur took the stage for the first time in three years and performed a 12-minute set that included "Song 2," "Girls and Boys," "Parklife," "Tender" and "This Is A Low."
