It's that time of year again, time for MPMF - Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio! This is one of my favorite festivals, taking place all over downtown Cincy from September 27-29. Think of it as a smaller SXSW without as much hassle, closer to home, and a helluva lot of fun! Here's a quick preview for the festival that starts today, as well as some of our picks on where to be! Enjoy, and hope to see you there. For a full schedule of events - click here for the official MPMF schedule page [...]

With all the new music being released these days, it's hard to really keep up and put your finger on a good album to just really sit back and lose yourself to. There are tons of singles and remixes that sound fresh, but what about whole albums? Here is a list of my current favorites on rotation complete with YouTube streams and purchase links. What are your current favorites? - Conrad Jonwayne - Cassette Grizzly Bear [...]

It's easy to forget that at one point, Grizzly Bear was the sound of Edward Droste alone in his bedroom making music for friends that the rest of the world wasn't supposed to hear. Things change, though, as things are wont to do (like the usage of the word "wont" itself), and over the course of four albums, Grizzly Bear has become an elder states-band of American indie rock circa the early 2000s, so critics and fans have been waiting with eagerness and trepidation these past three years for the follow-up to Veckatimest [...]
Weekly Playlist 83 features new tracks from St Lucia, Future Islands, Band of Horses, The Presets, Alt-J, Two Door Cinema Club, Menomena, Grizzly Bear, The Killers, Mystery Jets, Ghostpoet & The Royal Concept. St Lucia - The Old House Is Gone This New York electro guru delivers a wicked start to his self-titled ep. Using influences from Fleetwood Mac to Toto, St Lucia is about to hit the bigtime. Catch him at Parklife! RG Future Islands - Balance Suggested in our interview by Phoebe from Alpine. Love it. [...]
Shields reveals new layers of emotional depth and aesthetic dimension for a band that continues to challenge and captivate in ways that are entirely their own. Grizzly Bear is a band that has spent its entire career pushing against the boundaries of possibility within its own inherently limited medium of popular song. From the project's modest beginnings as Ed Droste's lo-fi home recording project, through Yellow House's psych-folk experimentations and culminating with Veckatimest's ornately detailed indie-pop, Grizzly Bear's defining characteristic throughout has been a hunger for perfection. As more and more of their indie rocking peers drifted into [...]
This is a monster week for amazing album releases! Both MS MR and Alt-J are putting out their debut albums, while veterans Band of Horses and Grizzly Bear are both putting out their fourth studio efforts. Band of Horses ' Mirage Rock has a distinctly classic rock vibe, while Grizzly Bear's Shields raises the bar for the group's exploration into the art rock genre. Old favorites and rookies alike, it's a particularly great week for new releases. [...]
As far as being a band in 2012 goes, Grizzly Bear has it pretty good. Critical darlings aren't often financially successful as artists and vice-versa. Yet, the Brooklyn troupe has spent the past decade creeping up Top 10 lists while winning over throngs of fans from sorority sisters to (you knew this was coming) the one-fifteenth-of-one-percent stakeholder (and recent New York Times Style Magazine cover boy) of the Brooklyn Nets. Later this month, Grizzly Bear headlines Radio City Music Hall, but they're still not a household name: The quartet maintains a relatively autonomous pairing with Warp Records, one [...]

GRIZZLY BEAR "YET AGAIN" This percussion driven masterpiece saved me the other day. It swept me away from the realities of the typical 'Seattle traffic no matter what time of the day it is' and onto a flying carpet on which I flew gently around town runny my errands smoothly. Afterwards we stopped and got Molly Moon's ice cream. It was a great day, thanks to Brooklyn based Grizzly Bear . [...]

Grizzly Bear's new album Shields will be released on September 18th. "Yet Again" is the second single from Shields . Shields (Warp, September 2012)

Oh GRIZZLY BEAR , you sure know how to treat us right. Since they announced the release of their new album Shields (out mid-September), the Brooklyn boys with a knack for achingly beautiful orchestral pop music have teased us with some huge spacey sounds on the impressive ‘Sleeping Ute’, and have just released a second single called ‘Yet Again’. The track starts out a little more conventional than ‘Sleeping Ute’, but it definitely seems like the stadium sized sounds aren’t going away in a hurry. [...]
A select few websites claim the following seven songs are MUST LISTENS BRO!!1! Truth is, they are cheating you like KStew, kicking up hype over irrelevant and ephemeral tracks that they, nor you, will

Grizzly Bear's newest track is 'Yet Again' which will be heard on the new album Shields which will be released on September 18th. The song will surely make all the Grizzly Bear fans happy as it is a return to glory with their strong indie sound.

Since 2004 Grizzly Bear has released 3 albums, each more anticipated than it's predecessor. However, there was a significant leap in the ache and pine for the album set to follow their 'breakthrough' 2009 album, Veckatimest. "Yet Again" is the second officially released song from the album that the blogosphere has heard and while it remains a bit more chaotic than usual, the characteristics that have defined the band for the past 8 years shine through. It's still experimental folk rock, but with a few more beakers and test tubes. Be [...]

Earlier this summer we announced that Grizzly Bear would be releasing the follow-up to their stellar 2009 album, Veckatimest, later this fall on September 19th. We also gave you a listen to "Sleeping Ute", the first single off the new record. Well today I bring you the title and tracklist for the new album, along with the cover art and a brand new song. The new song was shared via the band's YouTube page and is titled "Yet Again." After hearing 1/5 of the album, we are still very pumped for this release. Hope you're enjoying these teasers as [...]
Grizzly Bear are back with a new extract from the band's upcoming 10-track album "Shields". The Brooklyn, NY-based four-priece will release their full-length record on September 17, 2012. Also stream " Sleeping Ute ", another new track, in case you haven't heard it.
Grizzly Bear will release a new album, Shields , next month - the long awaited follow to Veckatimest from 2009. Listen to Yet Again off the new album. The band previously released the song, Sleeping Ute , off Shields, another big-sounding track.
With a new album from Dirty Projectors out now and records from Animal Collective and Grizzly Bear on the way, the upper-tier indie scene this year is looking a lot like it did in 2009. Grizzly Bear's new single "Yet Again" is the second track to drop from their new record Shields , which will follow up 20092s landmark chamber pop album Veckatimest. If "Yet Again" and the previous single "Sleeping Ute" are any indication, the band's output is going to be a little more hard-edged this time around. Although it still bears the pretty harmonies and atmospheric elements [...]
