Dear Ian, Thanks for your review of our record . It's clear that you are a good writer and it's clear that you took a lot of time giving us a thorough slagging on the site. We are fans of Pitchfork. And it's fun to slag off bands. It's like a sport -- kind of part of the deal when you decide to be in a rock band. ( That review of Jet where the monkey pees in his own mouth was about the funniest piece of band-slagging we've ever seen.) Continued below... [...]
Today we are heading to Michigan for a wedding of a family friend. But, next Saturday are going to hit up the 10,000 Visions of Cleveland event. There is going to be food, bands, tours of Apartments and big block party on west 6th. Hopefully tomorrow we are going to meet up with our friend Elizabeth in Ann Arbor, She is going to grad school there and we have not seen her in a while. Hopefully we will have the chance to catch up over many blood mary's mmmm. I know that some of you [...]
My friend Dru is loving this L.A. band, The Airborne Toxic Event . I must agree. I love the sheer energy, the intelligent witty lyrics which are reminiscent of Jarvis Cocker, and of course, the hooky guitars. The Monolators Todays post is another look back at 2007 and forward to 2008, this time through the eyes of one of LA's finest, The Monolators... The Monolator's Best Of 2007 Bodies Of Water - Doves Circle The Sky Originally [...]
First of all, last night's blog-band orgy was amazing. Bands, bloggers, blog readers, and even a few blog groupies in a room geeking it out to music, getting drunk around a pool table, and making out in the photo booth (ok, no, but we tried). We've never been around real, professional bloggers before so getting tips on proper RSS feeding, understanding Flickr hacks, and weighing in on the
This jangly L.A. indie pop quintet's debut EP is quite a treat, promising greatness for the future.
Sunset Junction is not a music festival. It's a street fair, with carnival rides, booths, food vendors, hawkers, crazies, oppressive heat and sweaty throngs of humanity whose alcohol intake is liable to affect not only their manners but the various scents they emit. So your enjoyment of the live acts on Sunset Junction's three stages will vary depending on your tolerance for the hassles of communal music experiences. The lineup assembled by Spaceland Productions certainly ranks with any from the past five or six years. Again, the afternoon slots [...]
The Airborne Toxic Event "Does This Mean You're Moving On" dir. by Jason Wishnow It's pretty obvious she has moved on, and lead singer Mikel Jolet knows it - but that doesn't mean he'll stop asking. Director Jason Wishnow plays upon the mix of sincerity and stubborn denial in the singer's words, as well as the breezy tone of the music. In a little over 2 minutes he throws together multiple storylines of heartbreak - which could or could not be related - while still retaining a light and lively [...]
The Airborne Toxic Event "Does This Mean Your Moving On?" Directed by: Jason Wishnow The Airborne Toxic Event recently released their first music video for their single, "Does This Mean You're Moving On?" from their 3 song ep that was self-released here in the States and by Square Records in the UK, and I had a chance to ask Mikel (singer/guitarist) over email a few questions about the video and their recent trek to the UK. Also for some more background on the band, check out Joe's interview with Mikel from last [...]
First of all, we'd like to thank the bands and the attendees of this past week's shows. Mr. T's Bowl with Amy Cooper, Kissing Cousins, The Henry Clay People, and The Monolators was pretty amazing. There was much love in the room so we have a feeling those bands will meet again sometime soon. And The Scene with Anavan, The Mormons, The Shark That Ate My Friend, and Bloody Robots was epic. Thank
Link zur Label-Website MP3-Download The Dance Inc. «Don't run [...]

I think I'm mainly posting this video just to rankle the folks who left the angry comments on my last post about The Airborne Toxic Event . Plus, it's a good song. "Does This Mean Your Moving On?"
Our fondness for the Airborne Toxic Event , the L.A. five-piece with the obscure name and the viola player, has been well-documented . The quintet is back in town this week after touring England behind the release of their single on upstart label Square Records there. Also just released: the band's homemade video for "Does This Mean You're Moving On?" Here it is: ||| The Airbone Toxic Event opens for the Kaiser Chiefs tonight at [...]
This band isn't new to many of you in the LA area who are avid show attendees. The Airborne Toxic Event (the name is a nod to Don DeLillo's novel White Noise ) started out a little over four months ago, and suddenly shot out into the scene. The homegrown band, and brain child of frontman Mikel Jollet, released a three track EP that sold out within the span of their first few shows, garnered a residency on Monday nights at the Echo in February, opened up for the Horrors and littered themselves around the stages of Silver Lake [...]
