Dear Frontier Psychiatrist, I just started a band, but we're having a lot of disagreement about the name. Can you help us? -Hombre sin Nombre Dear HSN, In one's adolescence-slash-early-twenti es, there are few opportunities for verbal madcappery of such gravity as naming one's band. Your musical future hangs in the balance! And yet, as in love and fight club, there are no rules. The infinitude of potential choices can be paralyzing. This does not have to mean, however, that the naming process is [...]

Hell yeah! New The Black Keys album out in may and tour this summer. What a night that could be at the summer festivals. They are at the top of my official Really-hope-they-will-come-to- Roskilde-list-2010! What are your hopes my fellow bloggers?
Sometimes I like to create buzz for songs simply because I like posting pictures of zombies. Don't worry, it's not one of those times.

Friday, June 12, 2009 Today's Quick Mention: With so many good shows to choose from this weekend you really can't miss, but just for the sake of recommending something I think you should go with Viva Voce at the Mohawk tomorrow night and White Rabbits at Emo's on Sunday. See you out there. Considering that side/solo/supergroup projects seem to pop up roughly every five minutes, I'm usually not any more excited about them than I am the artists who have yet to branch [...]

By Hal Bienstock Special to amNewYork • At Terminal 5 Friday and Saturday. The Black Keys have been on the road supporting their latest album, "Attack & Release," since last spring. Nearly one year into the tour, singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach says things are basically the same as they ever were. "We haven't married any celebrities, done anything stupid or run from the cops," he said. "We've changed some songs and added some different ones, but we're still the same two morons that started the tour." [...]

These guys are great. They have five albums out and there all worth a listen...... www.theblackkeys.com http://theblueclover.com
The Black Keys now have three upcoming NYC shows, sort of. The first is just a DJ set and it's THIS SATURDAY at Other Music in honor of Record Store Day . The 2nd is May 15th at Terminal 5 and that is sold out. The third is August 7th at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn and $29.50 tickets go on sale Friday April 25th at noon. All dates below.... [...]
The Black Keys played the loudest concert I've ever been to a few years back at the Mad Planet in Milwaukee. Seriously, it was LOUD. Last year they released Magic Potion , which was largely ignored by me due to a couple less than perfect initial listens. Lately, the Black Keys have had a resurgence both on my iPod and in my car. This has especially afforded some extra time and attention to their still fresh sound of their landmark first albums [...]
Janeane Garofalo dispensing advice. Black Sparrow Press' American Poetry month sale. They publish Bukowski and also Robert Creeley-Charles Olson's correspondence (a ten volume set for $80). Kish Song Bear's Attempted Autobiography in Fence . Nice review of Doug Rushkoff's Testament series. [...]
'So how do you feel about being dead?' 'I don't know, my neck hurts...' This my friends is a great video! We have a winner in my book.
Bands have recently been occupying very definite portions of my day. I have been lamenting recently that listening to M Ward, Califone and Brightblack Morning Light at 7:30am is hardly awe inspiring. The music runs and hides under harsh sunlight and is far more comfortable in a smokey room in the early hours on the morning. Similarly listening to Camera Obscura in the late hours usually ends badly. Everyone has a band that defies this trend for them. Anytime, anywhere, the music enhances any situation. The Black Keys is my band. Rubber [...]
Akron, Ohio's The Black Keys are playing at Mississippi Nights this Saturday, December 2nd, with Dr. Dog . Unfortunately, I will be out of town this weekend at a wedding, but if you are into The Black Keys brand of raw and dirty bluespunksoulfunk-inspired rock, you'll definitely want to check the show out. Dr. Dog play lo-fi indie pop in the vein of Guided By Voices or Olivia Tremor control and have opened previsouly for My Morning Jacket and M Ward. Be sure to listen to 88.1 KDHX [...]
Via: Pitchfork The Black Keys are set to begin the second leg of their U.S. tour tonight in Milwaukee, WI which will take them through to mid-December. After a quick repose for the holidays, the duo will jump right back in the saddle and tour the UK throughout February, with a few select dates scheduled for the rest of Europe in March. All this touring is naturally in support of the band's Nonesuch debut, Magic Potion. You can find the dates after the jump. Also, after the jump, is the most recent [...]
