I don't know if this Brooklyn based duo deliberately set out to look and sound like the 802s but they've achieved it none the less. And in keeping with relics from that decade it seems Acrylics signed to an old fashioned label. The label in question, Terrible Records, is run by Chris Taylor from Grizzly Bear and together they produced a 10-inch white vinyl archival of their 'All Of The Fire' EP. Perfectly quaint I think you'll agree, but then it had to be to house such pastoral delights as 'Counting Sheep' (used for blog effect as the song only [...]
A compelling debut of cleanly produced, neatly arranged pop songs that might just be a little too perfect. Acrylics are all about vocals. The duo, Molly Shea and Jason Klauber, write and sing the songs, with the help of "contributing musicians" (though it's unclear who plays what instrument). On their debut album, Lives and Treasure, the two split vocal duties, while lending backups here and there. The difference between their voices (beyond the obvious male/female distinction) sometimes also translates to a difference in song style, leading you to believe they each write the...

http://www.myspace.com/acrylic snyc Acrylics are from NYC like so many of the bands that tend to crop up here. I seem to be enjoying music from NYC, Canada and North-East England the most at the moment, no idea why! On their smouldering new track "Nightwatch" Acrylics exhibit a smooth 80's synth vibe combined with a Fleetwood Mac esque 70's mellow, chilled-out rock. It's effortlessly cool with it's seductive vocal. The same can be said for "Molly's Vertigo", the retro feel is carried over to the video too. It works better than [...]

Loving the hell out of "Nightwatch", the new song from the hotly tipped Brooklyn band, Acrylics . It will appear on their debut album Lives and Treasure , due out on January 25th via Hot Sand Records . "Nightwatch" is a smart smooth ride through incredible sounds that are bright and colorful with infinite appeal. Its refreshing to hear a band like this. So many acts just try to hard. Acrylics naturally have it going on. [mp3]: Acrylics - Nightwatch Check out the music video for early single [...]
It's that time when I share my pop-culture picks in exchange for yours. Check 'em out, if you please:

When I first heard Molly's Vertigo , I wondered why I was the last to hear about The Motels reunion, but it looks like the dominoes are starting to fall for Acrylics . After an EP and some high-profile tours with Sunny Day In Glasgow and Morning Benders, this Brooklyn duo has the cool kids on the blogs sitting up on their hinders over the January 25th release of Lives and Treasure . To be sure, Lives and Treasure boosts some top-shelf production [...]
