As announced via Foggy Notions' Twitter , Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel will play Whelan's on November 30th. Tickets go on sale priced at €20 plus fees on Friday morning 9am and will fly out the door no doubt. For a notorious public recluse, Mangum has a busy year as he's also curating ATP in December and playing some more live shows .

It appears that Jeff Mangum, the lyricist and lead vocalist of wildly adored indie band Neutral Milk Hotel and one of the founders of the Elephant 6 Recording Company , is finally coming back from that dark place he left us for so long ago. Not only has he been popping up in the most unexpected (or actually, totally expected, if one were expecting him at all) places with more and more frequency over the past couple of years, but he has even broken down and played some classic NMH songs in recent appearances. For the uninitiated, Jeff Mangum was the force behind indie tastemaker Neutral Milk Hotel, a band that hasn't released an album since a little before the turn of the century. Yesterday Mangum performed a few songs, including "Oh Comely" and "Two Headed Boy Pt. 23 at a benefit for New Zealand punk Chris Knox (tie-in!). Last night in New York City, Neutral Milk Hotel singer Jeff Mangum made an extremely rare public performance. It was for a benefit for Chris Knox, the legendary musician from New Zealand who is currently in rehab after suffering a stroke last year.
