Normally I hate Maroon 5 knock off's or anything that sounds remotely close to those ass clowns, but when they can put together a video as kick ass as Sweep the Leg , they deserve a little attention. This 80's tribute to the best movie ever features the cast of Karate Kid all grown up and fat living in a trailer, Mr. Belding as a sensei, and a drummer who got his bass drum head from Meg of the White Stripes. Chicago hip-hop artist Common is getting ready to release his 7th studio album, Finding Forever , on July 31st. This politically charged jam will feature collaborations from Kanye West, Lily Allen, D'Angelo, the late J Dilla, and John Legend among others. Last night I went to check out Baltimore's finest "Folktronica" group, Beach House , at the legendary Knitting Factory on Hollywood Blvd. and Highland. The venue lies near the intersection of one of the biggest tourist traps this side of the Mississippi. It's been 10 years since Portishead last released a record or played a full live set.... I am officially old. It looks like the experimental rock band from Bristol, UK will be resurfacing just in time for Xmas 07'. Smashing Pumpkins first record in seven years drops July 10th, and Badical Beats has found a good quality stream of "Tarantula" for your anxious ears. I remember the good ol' days when MTV was always banning videos left and right that were way too "hot" for TV (back when they actually had music videos). I haven't heard much about banned videos lately until today. The Cribs put out a video for Men's Needs that has been banned from appearing on MTV2 before 9pm thanks to an OFCOM complaint. Leakage occured via "the internets" last night, and I am going banana sandwiches over the new Spoon record, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga . The album title is ridiculous, but the tunes are just as solid as every other Spoon record that's been released. Their previous record, Gimme Fiction , was a tough one to follow, but with bangin' tracks like "Don't You Evah" and "My Little Japanese Cigarette Case", this new jam will definitely capture the hearts of new fans and Spoon fans alike.
