Normally I hate Maroon 5 knock off's or anything that sounds remotely close to those ass clowns, but when they can put together a video as kick ass as Sweep the Leg , they deserve a little attention. This 80's tribute to the best movie ever features the cast of Karate Kid all grown up and fat living in a trailer, Mr. Belding as a sensei, and a drummer who got his bass drum head from Meg of the White Stripes. Anyways, enjoy this modern 80's flashback brought to you by No More Kings !
Who doesn't love pasty musicians, sassy female vocalists and high energy rock that mixes The Grease Soundtrack with Blondie (if she had a strong lower register)? I know I do, and I love it even more when bands like The Long Blondes stream their ENTIRE upcoming album for us all to shimmy to. Someone To Drive You Home offers tracks so diverse that trying to categorize them would prove impossible. On one hand you have songs filled with [...]
Chicago hip-hop artist Common is getting ready to release his 7th studio album, Finding Forever , on July 31st. This politically charged jam will feature collaborations from Kanye West, Lily Allen, D'Angelo, the late J Dilla, and John Legend among others. You can stream Common's new single "The Game" on his Myspace page , and check out the music video trailer right here. The video premieres on MTV2 on May 29th.
Last night I went to check out Baltimore's finest "Folktronica" group, Beach House , at the legendary Knitting Factory on Hollywood Blvd. and Highland. The venue lies near the intersection of one of the biggest tourist traps this side of the Mississippi. After fending my way through waves of people dressed up in pirate costumes (it also happened to be opening night for the new Pirates of the Carribean movie), I made my way into a venue full of music fans and industry heads. [...]

The Badical Beats crew is anxiously awaiting the June 12th release of Era Vulgaris , the new record by everyone's favorite stoner rock band, Queens of the Stone Age . In the meantime, please enjoy the music video for their first single.... "Sick, Sick, Sick"
Yesterday I just so happen to stumble across an email asking me to check out an electronic pop band from Jersey City called Lismore . The laptop-based dance band is made of up two next door neighbors... Stephen and Penelope. The duo is embarking on a full US tour in support of their new EP, All That You Are , and will be blasting their danceable pop jams at a venue near you. Badical Beats came across a FREE mp3 of the title track from the new EP... you can snatch that up right [...]
Some musicians decide to take the plunge and dive head first into acting via cameos on big budget films. Other musicians sell out their music to provide background noise for blockbuster releases. Carina Round has decided to skip ahead of both options by creating a film called Slow Motion Addict which will be released as a series of episodes...each featuring a song off of the album with the same name which will be released on June 5th. Luckily for us, the music draws you in, is easy on the ears, and has some beats that'll make [...]

It's been 10 years since Portishead last released a record or played a full live set.... I am officially old. It looks like the experimental rock band from Bristol, UK will be resurfacing just in time for Xmas 07'. The group announced on their website that they will be the next curators and will be performing exclusively at All Tomorrow's Parties, Nightmare Before Christmas Festival, set to take place December 7-9 at Butlins Holiday Camp at Minehead. Here's what Vocalist Beth Gibbons had to say about the [...]
Smashing Pumpkins first record in seven years drops July 10th, and Badical Beats has found a good quality stream of "Tarantula" for your anxious ears. Just a warning, the mix is a little funky, but the old sound is definitely back. The artwork for the new record (see above dummy) was done by none other than Mr. Shepard Fairey of OBEY . It looks like the Pumpkins spared no expense in being politically incorrect. Tracklist: Doomsday Clock - 3:41 7 Shades of Black - 3:15 Bleeding [...]
I remember the good ol' days when MTV was always banning videos left and right that were way too "hot" for TV (back when they actually had music videos). I haven't heard much about banned videos lately until today. The Cribs put out a video for Men's Needs that has been banned from appearing on MTV2 before 9pm thanks to an OFCOM complaint. Apparently some people are offended by non-realistic beheadings and kitschy arm decapitations. I had a chance to peep the clip and I was more offended that [...]
I just watched this classic Digitalism video with duo from Hamburg, Germany playing at San Francisco's Mezzanine in April. It's so classic that I had to share it with you. Watch them bust out their live chops and talk about how they started it all right here . Digitalism is busy touring and promoting their electro-rock meets disco-house music debut from Kitsune/Virgin Records, Idealism . Dance your way to the record store, pick it up, and dance back [...]
Leakage occured via "the internets" last night, and I am going banana sandwiches over the new Spoon record, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga . The album title is ridiculous, but the tunes are just as solid as every other Spoon record that's been released. Their previous record, Gimme Fiction , was a tough one to follow, but with bangin' tracks like "Don't You Evah" and "My Little Japanese Cigarette Case", this new jam will definitely capture the hearts of new fans and Spoon fans alike. You can check out their summer tour [...]
Here's a new song that Spoon have been playing live. Thanks to Stereogum for capturing it at SXSW. Here are two other live version of new songs: MP3: Spoon - Target (live; new) MP3: Spoon - Rhythm & Soul (live; new) Spoon Tour Dates 04-12 Nashville, TN - Private Jack Daniel's show 04-21 Baltimore, MD ...
Although the overarching collection of songs still lacks a title, that hasn't stopped Spoon from divulging the titles of the individual tracks comprised by the band's forthcoming, sixth album, due out 7/10 on Merge. The misspellings (e.g. "Yr," "Evah," "Rhthm"...
