American rapper and dancer, Rye Rye released her first album, Go! Pop! Bang! . This talented young artist has been a protege to one of my all-time favorite artists, M.I.A. , performing alongside with her in the KALA tour in 2007, and appearing in the Paper Planes video. I attended Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans in '07, where I was able to see M.I.A. and Rye Rye perform together at my first 3-day music festival. I love the idea of M.I.A. - the way she looks, the packaging, the lyrics, her and the fact that she is so cool - but I often find the tunes a bit disappointing. But there's at least one track on the new album that is good fun and has crossover appeal - Paper Planes ( iTunes )

M.I.A. has confirmed that her third album will see the light of day this summer. Speaking to Rolling Stone, she said that five months of work with producer Blaqstarr is coming to a close.
