You know you’re an amazing musician when you’ve been a part of two influential bands that no one can possibly ever forget. Dave Grohl will forever be remembered as being the drummer of NIRVANA and the full caboose of FOO FIGHTERS , NICK CAVE for the BAD SEEDS and GRINDERMAN , but of course today, it’s all about PETER HOOK . HOOK was a member of one of the most seminal acts of the UK, JOY DIVISION in the [...]

How Clubbing Changed The World is an in-depth documentary that focuses on the evolution of dance music, nightlife culture, and the dissemination of its associations throughout the world. Hosted by Idris Elba — who you may also know as ' Stringer Bell ' of The Wire — the 97-minute film will be a trip down memory lane for older ravers, and an approachable history lessons to newcomers to the genre. Things start out with John Travolta's Saturday Night Fever, a controversial flick at the time which managed to score a PG-13 rating and caused a [...]

In honor of Independence Day, KEXP is saluting some of our favorite indie record labels who's DIY-spirit helped revolutionize the music industry. As an independent radio station ourselves, KEXP is thrilled to give a 13-gun salute to these pioneers with a series of label spotlights through the Fourth of July. In this profile, we look to one of our UK forefathers, Factory: In 1978, Factory Records was established by Tony Wilson and Alan Erasmus in Manchester. Wilson brought the business drive and entrepreneurial spirit needed to create a competitive [...]
Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia: We’re breaking the ‘Goin’ Old School’ rules a little today by featuring tracks we’ve featured before and tracks that aren’t strictly ‘80’s, but in celebration if the late, great, Bob Moog’s birthday, here’s some of our favourite Moog tracks. Starting with Kraftwerk ’s ‘Autobahn’ from 1975. And we had to feature New Order ’s ‘Blue Monday’ again, from 1983. Moog Source anyone? [...]
Tras la entrada de las mejores canciones de los 70' y su "polémico" Nº1 de Sex Pistols es turno de la clasificación que la NME hizo de la década de los 80. En que posición estará Prince ? y The Smiths ?. 100. Paul Simon – “Graceland” 99. The Clash – “Straight To Hell” 98. Dead Or Alive – “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)” 97. Pixies – “Where Is My Mind?” 96. OMD – “Enola Gay” 95. Elvis Costello – “Shipbuilding” 94. [...]

The fans have been wiating since 2006, New Order will be back on stage for two concerts on October 17th and 18th at the Ancienne Belgique (Bruxelles) and the Bataclan (Paris).
Today on our nostalgia moment we have the video of 1983 "Blue Monday" by New Order, one of favorite songs of all times.
One of the most successful band's of the 1980's, New Order emerged from the shroud of Joy Division to produce some of the most dynamic and critically acclaimed music of the decade. From the sombre Movement, to the charming Power, Corruption and Lies and later works such as Brotherhood and Low-Life, the quartet grew to be the powerhouse band of the Hacienda nightclub and of course, Factory Records
So today is starting off on the wrong foot, which is all I need to say. Nevertheless, any personal anecdote is best amended with a tune, and I couldn't think of anything better than "Blue Monday." As a kid (and I'm dating myself) I remember Orgy's cover of New Order's version. The New Order version [...] Read more at www.SFCritic.com
Pah, isto é lindo: "But if it wasn't for your misfortune, I'd be a heavenly person today. And I thought I was mistaken, and I thought I heard you speak Tell me, how do I feel. Tell me now, how should I feel." Não sei o que tenho hoje, mas andei com esta música na cabeça, pronto! Haha! Deve ser por ser segunda-feira. Hoje apetece-me registar por aqui o videoclip oficial do single "Blue Monday",
Happy 25th to"Blue Monday", which, let's face it, is the epitome of the independent ideal. The original pressing, infamously, made about as much money as Resonator does (which is to say it lost cash by the buttloads every time it sold). Thanks Cerysmatic Factory for the note. Someone keep Hooky out of the cake.
I absolutely love "America's Next Top Model," and the new season starts this Wednesday. In the commercials for Cycle 9, they've been using Rihanna's "Shut Up and Drive," which is not a bad song. Far less annoying than that one about the umbrella-ella-ella... Although, the main bass riff, I think, bears a passing resemblance to New Order's "Blue Monday." Anybody else hear it? Anybody wanna mash the two tracks up for me? (Alright, mash-ups [...]
