Timedoor's Most Played Songs of 2009, Part 2: Songs Released Before 2009
This will be brief, mainly because I didn't really start perusing the YouTubes until I began these Monday video posts a couple months ago. Also, none of my favorite bands seem to make videos (and when they do, they're pretty awful ). As a result, my music video knowledge is pretty limited. Here's my favorite video this year: And here's my favorite video this decade: And that is that. I will be out of town most of this week, so you won't be [...]
I recently received a bit of press in my inbox with the following lead-in: "If you LIKE Animal Collective, you will LOVE Francois Virot." Well, then I guess I will detest Francois Virot. Email deleted. Like Wilco and The Flaming Lips, there are just certain bands I have an illogical, knee-jerk reaction to. I am fully aware that my seething disgust for these bands is sometimes hard to justify, but I know what I like and what I don't (the common thread being this weird hippie vibe that is anathema to me). Animal Collective is the latest band to drive [...]

Cette année fût riche en tubes et nouveautés. Même votre blog music préféré ( Streetkiss Music pour rappel ;) ) est passé a coté de certain cartons de l'anné 2008. Je vais donc continuer sur ma lancé et répaparer ces injustices. ( partie 1 ) . On commence cette deuxième partie avec Envelopes et leur album Here comes the Wind. Un concentré de fraicheur électrique et éclectique qui n'a rien a envier à La Poste (...) Envelopes [...]
Well I have been working ALOT and pretty busy lately so I haven't posted anything really. Not that anyone has noticed, but just THROWING THAT OUT THERE. I have been jamming a few tracks however and updating my music plethora with many top jams for the 08 that I may have missed. I guess because [...]
Animal Collective are coming to Athens this Wednesday 22nd of October at Gagarin. I certainly want to attend but once again I will decide on this at the last minute. Nevertheless, especially after last year's stunning Strawberry Jam, this seems like a really promising live. See ya (probably) there..

Here are a few favorites from 2007 as we now completely wrap the year up and move into 2008, which should prove another amazing year for music. We will be back posting regularly next week with a few changes including a new rating system or lack thereof. Happy New Year and thank you for reading! Favorite Tracks of 07' Beirut – "Elephant Gun" Sunset Rubdown – "For The Pier (And Dead Shimmering)" Yeasayer – "2080" Shining – "Psalm" Fiery Furnaces – "Navy Nurse" Grouper – "Heart Current" [...]
I've always been an Animal Collective fan. Yes, I was born one, alright? No, actually I don't remember exactly when I became one, or how I found out about them, but I'm sure it had to do something with Pitchfork or a blog. And then an old roommate [you know who you are] bought me Feels on vinyl for my birthday [because I'm sometimes a jerk, she thought I didn't appreciate it very much but I really did]. Anyway, this year's Strawberry Jam has, as recently reported, become one of my favorites of the [...]
Another AC-related VOTW! I can't promise that next week won't have some Animal Collective connection but I can say how ghoulishly awesome the video for "Peacebone" is--it might be Animal Collective's finest music video. It's dark a la "Who Could Win a Rabbit," beautiful a la "Leaf House," and energetic a la "Grass." A love story between demon and monster (and for once it isn't represented by Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston) could be a slippery slope in other hands but rather than be heavy handed just to turn a dementedly touching date night into some socio-political statement, [...]
Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam ( Domino ) A groundbreaking work of genius that should be cited as the Smile for the Ritalin generation.
Bella Summer's finally over. Bring on the seasonal affective disorder. 1. Black Kids - " I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You " 2. Johnny Foreigner - " Our Bi-Polar Friends " 3. Bella - " Give It A Night " 4. Bowerbirds - " In Our Talons " 5. Vampire Weekend - " Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa " 6. Brad Laner - " June Gloom " 7. Iron & Wine - " Innocent Bones " [...]
The first single, 'Peacebone', from Animal Collective's new album Strawberry Jam has been remixed by the crafty Pantha du Prince (Hendrik Weber). First, check out the sporatic and creepy video for the original track, which was directed by Timothy Saccenti. He is a director to look out for (he also did the Battle's video for 'Atlas'). The remix is classic Pantha du Prince - so complex and intricate. If you haven't heard his long player, [...]
the new animal collective record dropped this week... and not surprising it made pitchfork's best new music what was however, surprising, is the amazingness of the video for the album's opener, peacebone.
Greg Wind and I each picked a video of the week, one that not only represents the listening sensibilities of our site and staff, but also that appeal to a wider audience of potential fans. Unbeknownst to one another, we both picked tracks that have ...
Animal Collective - Peacebone
Everyday I get tons of mp3s and CDs from artists all over who want to plug their projects. I thought it'd be cool to post links to a bunch of the stuff I've been getting in the mailroom. The artists below are pretty much unknowners so if you're lucky, you might just discover your next fling... on the other hand, the music might be total crap. It's all up to you A&R dudes and dudettes. Here ya go... S.E.L.F. of Lotus Tribe [...]
