Filed under: News , Exclusive , Canada F---ed Up guitarist Ben 'Young Governor' Cook would like to set something straight -- contrary to reports swirling around the Internet, no one in his band has a bone to pick with Sonic Youth . Nor, did they ever record a track slagging the seminal art-rockers. "I'd just like to clarify that the majority of F---ed Up are huge Sonic Youth fans and the song we wrote is not about the band at all, it's more of [...]
I wouldn't have had Ezra from Vampire Weekend down for a punk but he proves me wrong by ably joining Fucked Up during their 12-hour gig marathon in NY. Ezra joins the band for covers of 'Someone's Gonna Die' by Blitz and 'Parents' by the Descendents. "What's up Nerds?" A few weeks back we posted a video of Fucked Up jamming with Moby at the 12-hour long show they put on Rogan on Manhattan's Lower East Side in October. Ezra from Vampire Weekend was also on hand that day, getting in on the punk rock fun. I'd be lying if I said that I spent my youth listening to Blitz and Descendants (in my sheltered world, "London" by the Smiths is as close as I [...]
Our friends at Rhapsody gave us the heads up on this video going like of Ezra Koenig singing with F***ed Up in a basement. Yeah, those are some legendary punk covers from Blitz and the Descendents . We always suspected Vampire Weekend were heavy into the Descendents but DAMN at the Blitz song!
More video of Fucked Up's 12-hour show in NYC last month has started to circulate, and today we bring you video (courtesy of Rhapsody) of Ezra Koenig (of Vampire weekend) ...
A-Punk!

I never thought I'd be writing a headline even close to that, but in less than a year, Fucked Up's gone from the light bulb factory to playing all their indie-rock cards just right. That said, it's hard to get even slightly cynical about this: During the Toronto crew's 12-hour marathon last month, Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig showed he listens to more than Paul Simon and Peter Gabriel in his off time, giving spirited performances of Blitz's "Someone's Gonna Die," also covered by Rancid, and the Descendents' "Parents." Who would've ever thought they'd see skinheads [...]
