With the passion behind Jeff Tweedy's rant about his affinity towards record stores, it's no wonder why the Wilco frontman would be an advocate for Record Store Day [April 18]; allowing an exclusive pre-release of the band's new DVD to indie retail. Ashes of American Flags follows the Chicago-based indie band on their 2008 tour across the Midwest, and is a teaser for Wilco's newest studio album which should be released sometime this summer. Tweedy told Billboard , "My introduction [...]
TV On the Radio had the good fortune of guesting on the funniest Saturday Night Live in a while, which is sort of upsetting considering the fact that Steve Martin couldn't even save his episode, but regardless, it was good to see the cast snap back into shape. Post-inauguration relief? The show featured host Bradley Cooper and truly amazing performances by TV On the Radio, who gave us "Golden Age" and "Dancing Choose," both from the latest record, Dear Science. "Saturday Night Live" has long been known for occasionally dodgy sound for their music performances. Whether it was due to onstage monitor problems or TVOTR just having an off night, "Golden Age" and "Dancing Choose" sounded pretty lousy yesterday. Vocals were out of key and generally muddy [...]

TV on the Radio played SNL last night (Did you see it? I bet you're thinking "It wasn't as good as that show used to be in the old days of 1993"), performing Dear Science's first two singles, "Golden Age" and "Dancing Choose." "Golden Age" (above) has a bouncy, party vibe thanks to members of Celebration and Antibalas backing the band up for a resolutely lush version of the song. "Dancing Choose" (below) is typically incendiary, with lead singer Tunde Adebimpe serving as a manic soapbox preacher, rapping/singing the song's lyrics while his band rocks behind him. Both [...]
