The footage is kind of shaky, and audio kind of shotty, but it doesn't even matter. While playing at the UCLA Jazz and Reggae Fest last weekend, The Roots did a live cover of the Beastie Boys' classic, "Paul Revere". The performance was dedicated to MCA, and this is a proper dedication. Peep it below.
During their performance at this year's JazzReggae Festival, the Roots paid homage to two of music's recent fallen giants. As Black Thought says as an introduction, this live take on Beastie Boys classic " Paul Revere " is a tribute to both Adam "MCA" Yauch and Chuck Brown . You'll also hear some riffs from Led Zeppelin's "The Ocean" thrown into the mix, which the Dust Brothers sampled on another Beasties classic, "She's Crafty". Anyway, enough hip-hop nerdery.
