Premier extrait de son quatrième album pour la chanteuse-guitariste Laura Marling , le titre Where Can I Go? Âgée de 23 ans seulement, la Britannique, lauréate de nombreux prix lors de ses albums précédents Alas, I Cannot Swim (2008) et I Speak Because I Can (2010), s’est fait connaître à l’international, en 2011 pour son album A Creature I Don’t Know avec le hit Sophia. Les chansons du nouvel album Once I Was An Eagle ont trouvé leur source lors de la tournée de promotion aux États-Unis alors qu’elle s’est retrouvée isolée intérieurement, prête [...]

Laura Marling is a 21 year old to be reckoned with. The past few years have seen an influx of British female singer-songwriters of the folk pop variety, but Laura Marling stands out in the pack as a little more credible than the rest. The startlingly young songstress has a new video out for "Sophia," a contemplative folk song with warm strings that eventually transforms into a gentle grooving folk rocker. In the simple video, Marling and her band are playing in a church. She looks a little despondent singing those Nick Drake-reminiscent melodies! Someone should cheer her up. This track will appear on her forthcoming album A [...]

Laura Marling 's upcoming single is called 'Sophia', and I reviewed it for TGTF a while back. I wasn't too keen on it; for some reason, 'Sophia' just didn't seem all that sincere to me. The video for the song however has warmed me more to it; set in the gorgeous confines of a house of worship, it's a nice set up for Marling's October UK tour of cathedrals. She’s come a long way from not being old enough to play in her own venues. Aiming for a third masterpiece of old soul and heavy subject, Laura Marling is less than a month away from her A Creature I Don’t Know (=presumably herself). Her teeth gritting, country jamming clip for “Sophia” is perfect. What [...]

This week has been pretty awful, hasn't it? Riots, warehouse fires, festivals being cancelled and governments being governments. Well, let's try and put this behind us and enjoy some videos. Our favourites from this week come from Alex Winston, Boom Clap Bachelors, I Break Horses, Girls and Laura Marling. What's your favourite? Remember, we have a load more videos in our TV area .
What up, internets! Once more I am back with a collection of videos that came out during the week. This version of the backlog has a pleasant mix of strong female singers, live performances and even Peter, Bjorn & John's latest album Gimme Some in its entirety! Also, there's the 1.00000000001th place winner for The National's music video contest, as promised. 1.00000000001th Place for The National's "Exile, Vilify" music video contest, directed by MikeMov89Portal2 Sigur Ros' mysterious "INNI" [...]
We told you about Laura Marling’ s gorgeous “Sophia” last week, and now we have a video. A candle lit cathedral seems like the only place appropriate enough to house this track. A Creature I Don’t Know will be out September 12th and you can pre-order it here . Laura Marling - “Sophia”

The Workhouse - The Whistler on the Coldroom Sessions out August 26 (Hungry Audio): Marked by beautiful jangly intro and spacey vocals this is a perfect fall tune. Download it while you can through the SoundCloud link. (4.5/5) - Forest Fire - Future Shadows on Staring at the X out October 18 (Fat Cat): Intriguing track, can't wait to hear the rest of this album. Download it through SoundCloud (4.5/5). - [...]
I still don't know how I feel about this song the UK's Laura Marling: on one hand, you have a Joni Mitchell-esque guitar ballad. Then, at about 2:40, the band kicks in and thing get very AAA radio. So, I am kind of stumped, but Marling's talent for songwriting is evident. Her crystalline voice is unwaivering and well, I don't know, maybe I like the AAA vibe. You be the judge. Her third record, A Creature I Don't Know releases on Sept. 12 in the UK, Sept. 13 in the US.
A couple weeks back Laura Marling premiered her new single " Sophia " in the form of a semi-animated video that ended up creating the single's artwork in front of your very eyes.

Love it when the drums kick in! Buy "Sophia" on iTunes | Amazon
