Opening (or co-starring?) for the Pipettes last night was Nicole Atkins , a great singer-songstress from Asbury Park, NJ. First time I was hearing her music (yes, I live in a vacuum-packed rock world), and I was throughly impressed. She plays a cool guitar and has a mighty voice that echoes some singer touchpoints of classic rock, jazz torch singers and more, loaded with drama and clarity. Fine tunes too. Der wollte unbedingt noch an Neptune City persönlich Hand anlegen, nun ist die Platte in den USA endlich erschienen und anlässlich dessen gab die Frau die mit dem Bombast ihrer Songs locker mithalten kann vor ein paar Tagen ihr Fernsehdebüt. Nicole Atkins shows off not only her vocal chops, but her easy on the eye looks, as she did the ballad "The Way It Is," on Letterman. The quality isn't the best, but it's worth a view.
