We got such a strong reaction to our streaming a song by The Big Pink, we felt it was our obligation to track 'em down and bring them to your desktop. Milo Cordell and Robbie Furze are the London-based duo responsible for all the uproar. Milo runs the Merok label which has released records by Klaxons and Crystal Castles, yet makes music that we think far surpasses those highly touted groups. In February they won the Phillip Hall Radar award at the NME awards show for Best New Act. Combining great visuals with a brilliant nod to the great post-romantic [...]
Love the sonic shoegaze dubbed out brilliance of the Gang Gang Dance remix below, but the skanking sub-bass of the original is equally joyful - wonderful music!

London's The Big Pink may not be the best at choosing band names, but this Massive Attack meets Cocteau Twins jam is absolutely fantastic. It sort of has that 4AD sound to it also; shimmering electronics, metallic drum machines and futuristic synth/guitar waves. As the song moves along more bridges and melodies are revealed giving the song wings. The Big Pink: "Velvet" - Directed by Rob Hawkins: Get the Gang Gang Dance remix of "Velvet" [...]

[ photo ] London's The Big Pink is giving away this new remix, in which Gang Gang Dance re-works the group's already massive/cinematic new single " Velvet ," turning the song into something like Animal Collective meets a John Hughes flick meets Cocteau Twins. Until about halfway through, anyway; then it's straight GGD the rest of the way. mp3: the big pink :: velvet (gang gang dance remix) ************** The Big Pink's [...]
Ahead of their debut Dublin date this Saturday in Crawdaddy, a placing in the BBC Sound of 2009 poll and a deal with 4AD, The Big Pink's Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell are ready to dish out their mix of soaring electronics and droning shoegazing guitars to the public. State taled to Milo about Merok, the influential indie "punk" label he runs, industrial music, shoegazing, Robert Smith, Mary J. Blige and phallic monikers. You started out doing aggressive industrial music, how different was that to now? It shares a [...]

The Big Pink unleash their debut single "Velvet" next week on 4AD . It starts with an industrial drum beat and comatose vocals, slowly intensifying as the murky guitar ascends. It's the type of music that's made for late-night headphones.
