Earlier today I was sent a promo copy of the K'NAAN 's forthcoming long_one. I'm yet to press play, unsure if I will, just starting with the new NOTING TO LOSE video now, which showcases a look at the real urban side of Toronto town. Oh and there's a cameo from the NAS too.

There's not a lot of music videos that display Toronto's seedy underbelly (unless you count Drake's clip for "Headlines" , which had far too many grown men in sweaters and gloves to be truly gritty). For a look at the real urban side of Toronto, local hero/MC K'Naan takes collaborator Nas on a tour of the city in the music video for "Nothing To Lose" . K'NAAN is one of those artists that can move between ultra mainstream appeal and gutter street shit.  One minute he's philosophizing on world freedom and expression, the next he's talking about knifing you in a dark alley, or storming your borders with some pirates, all set to an upbeat rhythm and pop guitars.  Here's another example of such on "Nothing To Lose", which co-stars Nas.  Pretty fresh. One of the better and stand out tracks from K'naan's new EP, More Beautiful Than Silence , is the collaboration he did with Nas . Somalian transplant and Toronto native, K'naan hits the street with seasoned vet Nas for this video release of their collaborative track "Nothing To Lose". The two chop it up between verses about their surprisingly similar pasts, reflecting a certain appreciation that contributes well to the song. I have been avoiding most of K'naan 's latest More Beautiful Than Silence EP, due to the fact that the majority of it is filled with party pop singles. But there is one song off the project that is undeniably fresh. That song, the Nas assisted "Nothing To Lose", now has a set of Toronto based visuals to accompany it.
