Amanda Blank is an American singer and rapper, who is not afraid to speak her mind and do whatever she wishes. Her biggest hit is "Might Like You Better", which is a cover of the 80's classic "Never Say Never" by Romeo Void, the band of the super dynamic, lovely and proud not to be skinny Debora Iyall. Excellent choice! Enjoy an interview with Miss Amanda, that we took for Curt Magazine. LS: It's so refreshing to see more and more women getting into rap and hip-hop. Did growing up in Philadelphia have any profound influence? [...]

You know those girls who roll with a lot of dudes? The ones that can talk shit, drink like a 250 lb Irish footballer and do anything any guy can do just as well, but probably better. Nah, I'm not talking about myself, but if you know me personally I can see why you would think that! The chick I'm talking about is Amanda Blank . The first time I saw Amanda was at Siren Fest in Coney Island, NY. (The Village Voice puts this on every summer and its always a great time). Blank was [...]
We blogged about a remix of Amanda Blank's track "Might Like You Better" toward the beginning of September and I caught the original track on T.V. last night. I find female rappers to be refreshing especially when when they combine electro club sounds with their verses. It takes them from the familiar rap scene and transforms the genre into a totally new sound. Amanda Blank hails from Philly, a city with a deep musical history. "Might Like You Better" is the first single off her album "I Love You" released back [...]

Music video for "Might Like You Better" by Amanda Blank from the album "I Love You."
This video looks like it was fun to shoot!
Yes, I admit I do enjoy listening to this song here and there, granted it doesn't really have anything mind-blowing about it aside from one or two good lines that Amanda Blank repeats over and over. I actually would enjoy the song more in just bits and pieces, preferably in the form of a mash-up or remix. The video doesn't really help much in that department. It more so just makes me wonder what graphic designer friend of her's she let work on it. My apologies if you've made it [...]
Amanda Blank is bringing out a little of the 80's with her new single "Might Like You Better" off her current album release I Love You. Reminiscent of Romeo Void's "Never Say Never", Amanda Blank is giving the track her...

Who doesn't love it when music journalists describe a new act by saying x = a + b / c and then follow it with "in a blender"? Lord knows we do. So, this is Amanda Blank , who sounds like M.I.A + Santigold / Gwen Stefani "on acid". There you are, that's no reductive in anyway is it? Amanda Blank is friends with all the cool producers who hang out in the all the coolest clubs and probably smoked behind the bike sheds at school. Blank's [...]
Been listening to Amanda Blank's new album for the last few days and can't get enough. We first caught wind of this girl when she came out with Spank Rock at SXSW 2008 . She keeps company with not only Rock, but Diplo and Santigold who she opened for at Stubb's in June. The new album is called I Love You and is available now on Downtown Records. It also includes collaborations with Santi, Rock and our favorite Lykke Li .

The video for Amanda Blank's "Might Like You Better" is not nearly as raunchy as the song it's for. That's not really that hard at all, but the video isn't raunchy at all, as Blank raps in a room packed with balloons. Her album might by titled I Love You, but Blank isn't concerned with anything treacly. I Love You is out now via Downtown. [ Stereogum ]
