Antony and The Johnsons could probably take the most annoying song (of that year) and make it pretty good. Behind Antony Hegarty's vocals, who I could easily mistaken for a women with a deep voice, has a unique voice in indie rock. It's more soulful really and the band just facilitates that. Anyway the song and video would fool me again that Antony is somewhat female as the song itself is very feminine yet does a gorgeous job with the track. We received a very strange email this morning claiming that Beyoncé was set to release an album of maudlin covers of her own songs. The ten song set is to be called B-yond Sadness and this is the first fruit of her labour: Very touching. It is of course Antony & The Johnsons (it says so on the video) with their take on the pop classic. Firstly I'd like to formally apologize for the lack of VotW last week. Secondly I'd like you guys to check this week's video out. Joie Iacono directs the official music video to a Beyonce cover/Antony & The Johnsons B-Side. With footage Pink Lady by James Elaine, the slow cuts and ratted feel of the footage suits the song quite well. I think personally it is a huge improvement on the original, although it's tough to compare the two as they are of two completely different genres. Check it out to the right or by clicking here .
