RIVAL SCHOOLS - Shot After Shot [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]
Click here to view the embedded video. I don't know if fanboy would be the correct nomenclature to describe my affinity for Rival Schools frontman Walter Schreilfels, and I don't think nostalgia would do the man justice. The fact of the matter is, the now defunct "post-hardcore" band Quicksand , which Schreifels also fronted, is one of my favorite bands of all time and I was only able to catch them twice. I've yet to see Rival Schools, which I would essentially describe as a more mature, poppier Quicksand and if [...]

Sleigh Bells - Infinity Guitars
USHER, AKON ( Rose Garden , 1 Center Ct) After a brief career lull following the blowup "Yeah!" Usher has roared back to life with songs dominating the club scene, such as "OMG" and "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love." Expect a sweaty amount of hype, awesome choreography, and opener Akon (who, frankly, I don't like very much). WM. Album Review: Rival Schools - Pedals

Album Review: Rival Schools - Pedals Words: Simon Opie // Rival Schools - 'Pedals' (UK Release: 7 March '11) I'll come clean - Rival Schools ' guitarist Ian Love stayed at my house back in the day, with the rest of his band called Cardia (sadly neglected and surely a buried treasure). That was back when Rival Schools had flared brightly and burnt out faster than a cheap roman candle, with just their debut album, 2001's 'United By Fate' [...]

Rival Schools "Petals" CD release party at Santos on March 8

Rival Schools "Petals" CD release party at Santos on March 8 There's been a lot of renewed interest in the 90s recently. From the opening credits in the premiere of Carrie Brownstein's awesome new show Portlandia , to Pearl Jam turning 20, It looks like its now safe to bring the flannel out of the closet once again. To that end, Sam Siegler from CIV (remember them!??), Walter Schreifels, my favorite vegan and frontman from the grossly under-rated bands Quicksand and Gorilla Biscuits , along with members from Youth of Today and Iceburn, have come together as supergroup Rival Schools . Though it [...]

Listen: Rival Schools - "Shot After Shot" The New York based band Rival Schools is on the verge of releasing a new record on March 8th called Pedals , and from the first song that they have previewing, the album is sure to be a must have.
