Have we mentioned yet how we impressed we've been with the Gossip's new album Music For Men ? Is it because we're men and the music was made with us in mind? Doubtful. More likely, it has something to do with Beth Ditto's formidable set of pipes and the rhythm section's uncanny ability to seal a beat tighter than a ziploc bag. Proof in point: the new video for "Love Long Distance", which places the trio in a funky roller disco and fashions them as bobblehead-esque characters whose massive domes are not unlike the Goth kids [...]

The concept of this video is completely lost to us (what exactly did the "drawing board" look like??) which is a shame because the song is divine. Love Long Distance is the second single off "Music For Men." PS . Did they think that inflating Beth Ditto's head would distract us from her bod?? It kind of did! Heard it through the bass line not much longer would you be my baby.

Gossip 's new album Music For Men turns out to be much better than I expected. Sure, it's far more polished and produced than anything the band has done before, but once you get past the new "pop" element they're working, it turns out to be a solid, fun album. "Love Long Distance" is the second single and it comes with the trivial but harmless video above.

Gossip have premiered the new music video for "Love Long Distance" of their latest album Music for Men . The video is inflated (oh, snap) with giant balloon heads, unitards and rollerskating.

Thanks to all the balloon heads, the video the Gossip's "Love Long Distance" looks a commercial for a videogame (something Wii-related) with some old school roller rink hijinks (and a keytar!). Lyrically, the thing is a love song, and it features a thinly veiled reference to "Heard it Through the Grapevine." Overall, the song has the same problem as the other singles from Music for Men ; it sounds flat, removing any edges the band's earlier work used to have. Music for Men is out now.
