Another day closer to September 27th means another new track from Mastodon. Down below you can check out the song "Spectrelight" from their forthcoming album, The Hunter , out on 9/27. This track will definitely make those of you who were pissed that "Curl of the Burl" sounded a bit too "poppy" feel better. It's not a long track but it's in your face the entire time. In your face like guy who's upset you called him a pussy and when he calls you out on it, you try to pretend you never said that.

Mastodon have posted a "viral video" version of their song, "Spectrelight." The track features Neurosis vocalist/guitarist Scott Kelly. The song comes from their album, The Hunter which is due out September 27, 2011 .

It seems like every other week Atlanta metal group Mastodon releases something new from their upcoming, and hugely anticipated album The Hunter . There's an accompanying video for the blitzing metal blast, but it's mostly just kaleidoscopic light spheres. Mastodon have let us have it once more with the third taste of their upcoming album, The Hunter. Titled "Spectrelight" it's accompanied by a trippy kaleidoscope like video that was directed by Aaron Hymes. Georgia metal demigods Mastodon have already shared " Black Tongue " and " Curl Of The Burl ," two tracks from their new album The Hunter , and now they've dropped another one via kaleidoscopic YouTube video. The song is called "Spectrelight," and it's closer to the mercilessly stomping Mastodon of the Leviathan era than those other two songs are. That's the Mastodon era I like best, so I'm happy. For the visualization of the clip, Mastodon offers some pretty kaleidoscopic colors, allowing for the rare opportunity to use "pretty" and "Mastodon" in the same sentence. Mastodon's new album, The Hunter , keeps sounding better and better with each single the band releases to the web. Both " Black Tongue " and " Curl of the Burl " served as evidence in the case that the guys are moving back to their more straightforward crushing sound. Mastodon has debuted its third video via YouTube. Spectrelight is far heavier than the previous two singles, being more in line with the band's Leviathan and Blood Mountain material and features Scott Kelly of Neurosis on guest vocals.
