For Talib Kweli, protest songs, love songs, dance tracks, bragging and boasting and rhyming for rhyming's sake are all part of the same action, an emotional engagement with the world through music. Talib Kweli's new LP Prisoner of Conscious opens with him speaking to an Occupy Wall Street crowd, or a simulation of the same, and ends with him declaring, "Free Pussy Riot". That's on "It Only Gets Better", the last song before a bonus track. Before mentioning Pussy Riot he runs through a litany of political prisoners, alive or departed, and frames the album title as an expression [...]

Brooklyn rapper Talib Kweli has been working on his new album, Prisoner of Conscious since before the release of 2011's Gutter Rainbows , and after continuously delaying it, he's finally set to release it for real this time. It comes out next week (5/7). The record features contributions from some pretty hot of-the-moment guests, including Miguel ("Come Here") and Kendrick Lamar & Curren$y ("Push Thru"). It's also got a track produced by Harry Fraud [...]

So summer, and consequently, my travels are pretty much a wrap at this point, and it seemed only appropriate to show some love for the folks who have been soundtracking both of them. Given the fact that internet isn't always consistent in the particular corner of the world where I've been spending time, this edition is by no means exhaustive of all the great shit out there that's been dropping. I suppose I can't ever really say that anyway. But fuck it. Among the highlights here are some particularly sumptuous, groovy ass offerings from some cool ass, artsy women, like [...]

When Talib Kweli released this new song called "Push Thru" last month, it got people talking because he had Curren$y and Kendrick Lamar as guest features on it. Kweli just gave us " Push Thru " less than a month ago and now he hits us with the official visual. This is off of Talib Kweli's upcoming Prisoner of Consciousness album. Check the full video out below.
Last month Talib Kweli 's new single featuring Spitta and Kendrick dropped as a leak off of his impending mixtape Prisoners of Concious , now we have a nice set of visuals to go along with it. Some may complain that the video reflects the song in that it seems the three seem to be just 'going through the motions', but how can you really complain when a couple of the game's most talked about and respected young artists come together for a single release? Check out the video above, and appreciate [...]
woahhhh woah woah. Talib drops a new video out of nowhere. he posted this a couple hours ago on his twitter , and man Curren$y keeps it way to trilla in his classic caprice (which is standard for spitta). If there is one thing he has done since day 1 its keepin it real. roll one and play this track. jets......foool.
After previously releasing the audio, Talib Kweli releases the accompanying visuals for his very chill track "Push Thru." We take a ride with Curren$y through Louisiana, sit with Talib at a bodega in New York, and shoot some hoops with Kendrick Lamar in Compton. Check out the visuals above!
Here's the visual to Talib Kweli's Push Thru track featuring Kendrick Lamar and Curren$y. Prisoner Of Conscious out soon. Video: Talib Kweli - Push Thru (Feat. Kendrick Lamar and Curren$y) is a post from: That Hip Hop Blog
On his new single " Push Thru ," underground rap lifer recruited two of his up-and-coming younger peers in Curren$y and Kendrick Lamar. And in the beautifully photographed new video, directors Scott Fleishman and Fredo Tovar film all three rappers in their native locales: New Orleans, New York, Los Angeles. It helps that all three places are so ridiculously photogenic, but there's a lot of charisma on display in this video. Kendrick's turn, in particular, could be a star-maker, if videos still made stars, and if Kendrick wasn't one already. Watch it below. Read [...]

Despite the collaborative nature of the track, Talib Kweli , Curren$y , and Kendrick Lamar couldn't be further from each other in the music video for "Push Thru" . Instead, each MC spends equal time reppin' their respective hometowns: Curren$y takes a long, slow ride through New Orleans, Kweli jams outside the Brooklyn Museum, and Lamar hits the courts of Compton. Gentlemen, if you'd like to meet somewhere in between, we suggest the mean streets of Jefferson City, Missouri. Watch the video below. Kweli's fifth solo album, Prisoner [...]

Rap veteran Talib Kweli calls for some coastal love from the west and south for this unusual collaboration. Somehow it all works out here and Spitta comes with a verse that isn't the norm for him. It's good to see him rap outside the typical weed, cars, and women lifestyle we have grown to hear from the Jet setter .

Talib Kweli brought in some heavy hitters for his track "Push Thru", nabbing verses from two of the moment's hottest MC's, Curren$y and Kendrick Lamar. The three re-teamed to create this video for the track, a nice, meaningful montage of images and hip hop. Definitely worth 5 minutes of your time. Look out for Kweli's 5th solo LP, Prisoner of Conscious soon.
Legendary Talib Kweli teams up with two ill cats Curren$y and Kendrick Lamar.
