BEN FOLDS FIVE, NATALY DAWN ( Roseland , 8 NW 6th) So! Ben Folds Five are coming to town, and opening for them is one-half of Pomplamoose. [ Pause. ] Okay, I had to take a minute to go get in a real-life argument with someone close to me about the perils of being yourself vs. the perils of trying to play along with the Kool Kids Music Klub. It was decided that I should say the following sentence, even if it makes people think I'm a doofus: I totally don't hate Pomplamoose. I thought those videos were [...]
The reunited '90s band has something new to say // Follow Owl and Bear on Facebook and Twitter for contests, MP3s, and links that don't make it onto the blog.

I interviewed Ben Folds for Exclaim! , which was a bit of a trip, since I was a big fan of his in high school. The Five's new album, The Sound of the Life of the Mind , was surprisingly good; I don't normally have much faith in reunion records, but this one's got some catchy tunes and makes me feel like I'm 17 again. That's what everybody wants, right? Below is the video for "Do It Anyway." I originally had "Draw a Crowd" here, but the HTML was [...]
Weekly Playlist 85 features The Killers, Divine Fits, Clubfeet, The xx, alt-j (∆), Ben Folds Five, and Purity Ring. The Killers - Miss Atomic Bomb wow. The Killers are back and Miss Atomic Bomb is one of my favourites off the new album. In typical Killers fashion, intense Flowers passion, intertwined with deep crescendos and synth. MZ Divine Fits - Would That Not Be Nice Bit like Spoon, a bit like 80s band The Church, whatever they're doing I love it. Very cheeky bassline. RG [...]
”I have knowledge of your works, that you are not cold or hot: it would be better if you were cold or hot,” wrote John the Revelator, quoting God in the final, apocalyptic book of the Bible. “So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth.” And surprisingly, that same line pretty much sums up the tenor of the Ben Folds Five reunion album, The Sound of the Life of the Mind . Initially, the sound of this new disc is [...]

Here's something that may brighten up your day. Fans of both Ben Folds Five and Fraggle Rock (for those of you who are old enough to remember the ’80s Jim Henson show) can rejoice as the reunited pop band teams up with some of your favorite puppets. The humorous video for "Do It Anyway" arrived this week just in time for the release of "The Sound of the Life of the Mind" (out now on ImaVeePee Records and Sony Music) — the band's first album since 19992s "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner." Featuring actors Anna Kendrick and [...]
Surely you've seen this video already, right? It hit the internet yesterday, and it popped up on my Facebook feed more than a few times. The reunited Ben Folds Five joining forces with beloved Muppets Fraggle Rock to give you "Do It Anyway." If you're thirty years old and this isn't one of the things you loved from your childhood with something beloved from your teen years, then what's wrong with you?
For the "Do It Anyway" video Ben Folds Five have teamed up with those little felt made critters from Fraggle Rock. An entertaining video that sees the band have their instruments man handled by the Fraggle Rock gang. My girlfriend lost her mind when she saw this video and it brought back a lot of fond memories, see if it does the same for you up at the top. The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind is set for release next week.

Ben Folds Five have posted a new music video for their song "Do It Anyway." The song will appear on their new album, The Sound of the Life of the Mind , due out today . Most charmingly, the video features the Fraggles, of the TV show Fraggle Rock .

by Dominick Mastrangelo Ben Folds Five @ Central Park Summerstage 9/14/2012 Coming into Friday night's Ben Folds Five show at Rumsey Playfield (9/14), I carried none of the usual trepidation that surrounds reunion shows. Armed with how impeccably they pulled off their " MySpace Front-To-Back " performance of 1999's moody swan song The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner four years ago - the band's first performance since parting ways in 2000 - I [...]

The BEN FOLDS FIVE new long_one has been receiving many a spins throughout the last two work days and now the American tri-rockers give their latest video, DO IT ANYWAY , the all-star treatment. Just about to sort me the dinner whilst you check the visual below, featuring the entire cast of the '80s series, Fraggle Rock, alongside she-actress Anna Kendrick and comedy types Rob Corddry and Chris Hardwick.
The mid-90s was an interesting time for the rock landscape that was dominated by a mix of post-grunge acts, aging classic rock bands and hook-friendly corporate rock. The alternative music scene was beginning to break through to the mainstream thanks in part to the success of both Lollapalooza and H.O.R.D.E. - who exposed attendees to bands that weren't necessarily getting radio airplay or support from MTV. Why am I once again boring you with a history lesson? Well it's mainly to give context to the the era of when Ben Folds Five first arrived, with their smart brand of [...]

Ben Folds Five debuted the official video for “Do it Anyway” this morning, and it features some colorful characters you’ll probably recognize. Here's the official music video for " Do It Anyway ," the first track from Ben Folds Five's much anticipated album " The Sound of the Life of the Mind ". The video feature the Fraggles from Jim Henson's "Fraggle Rock" and also stars Rob Corddry, Anna Kendrick, and Chris Hardwick. This definitely tops Weezer's video that featured Muppets and might be the best thing you watch today. Great, great, video. And yes, as one commenter on YouTube notes: "The Fraggles can be happy underground."
