photo by Kyle Johnson Let's face it: going to the Sasquatch! Music Festival is at times painful. Sometimes you feel like whoever it is that does all the scheduling must have it in for you, because all your favorite bands are playing at exactly the same time. Trying to make the decision on the spot is impossible. Whichever you pick, you're going to hate yourself. So whatever you do, make sure you go through all the tough spots in the schedule before heading out to the Gorge so that you can know [...]
UK future bass shaman SBTRKT just announced a lengthy North American tour in support of his wildly successful self-titled LP, including stops at SXSW and Coachella . SBTRKT's production is extremely versatile, combining elements of dub, ambient, techno, and soul, making his music unique and inspiring. He’ll be bringing his LIVE arrangement to every single date on the tour, meaning we’ll be getting to witness the tribal leader in his purest form – playing out his music how he sees fit. The combination of his sweet sounding production and precisely complex live show [...]

A lot of people said 2011 was a terrible year. Myself included. And sure, in some ways it was, and in some ways it wasn't, and 2011 is as subject to perspective and the theory of relativity as any other year. But it seemed tough for a lot of people. Europe began sinking into critical debt, natural disasters seemed particularly rife with 2011 kicking off in Australia with devastating floods in Queensland... And of course as the people of multiple countries stood up to their dickhead dictators and said 'enough', they were (among other things) used as human shields. It [...]
The title says almost everything that needs to be said really, so we’ll avoid a few minutes of pseudo-philosophising about the whole “end-of-year” obsession (bottom line – we love them), as these are simply my favourite songs from 2011, and therefore they are all right. But please feel free to argue in the comments, it wouldn’t be an end of year list without some of that. Fortunately, each song really does speak for itself, which is convenient because I don’t have a spare day to write about each one of these magnificent musical beasts, to be absolutely honest. So hit [...]

SBTRKT was a guest on Marry Anne Hobbs new show on XFM and provided her with a 20minute mix. You can't hear much of his mixes so this one is pretty rare. It contains 15 tracks from the likes of Dark Sky, Boddika, Zomby, Sbtrkt himself, Caribou remix of Radiohead and many more. Stream it below, tracklist is after the jump. And if you haven't seen his latest video for "Pharaohs" with Roses Gabor be sure to check it out after the jump. [...]
Okay either I'm really behind in music videos or there's just been a whole load of them released in the last few days. First up here is SBTRKT's video for "Pharoahs". SBTRKT in the video shows off his many faces, well, sort of, multiple masks are donned throughout the video, while featured vocalist Roses Gabor [...]
Following up the success of the track "Wildfire" featuring little Dragon, SBTRKT releases his latest collaboration.
The official video for SBTRKT's "Pharaohs" featuring Rose Gabors was released late last week. The track is off the producer's self-titled debut, which though we haven't written much about the album (beside including Drake's remix of "Wildfire" ) it's certainly one of our favorites this year. Let us explain: SBTRKT's (pronounced "subtract") debut has a captivating range of style. Venturing from the aforementioned "Wildfire" that feature Little Dragon's psychedelic sex-romp style, to the more electronic dance tracks like "Pharaohs." Very much in a similar vain as UK counterpart Bonobo, SBTRKT's production occasionally embeds hip hop elements with [...]
My favourite track from SBTRKT's debut album gets the video treatment. Roses Gabor provides the vocals, Tim Brown directs the video.

The UK producer SBTRKT had a big year, gaining more attention and releasing a self-titled debut album. While the masked producer has a knack for creating some serious good vibes, his latest single from the album isn't really my favorite. "Pharaohs" is not bad, just not my choice for the next video, but hey what do I know? This track features Roses Gabor , who's worked with the Gorillaz . Watch the video below. Fresh? [...]
