"What was your favorite show at South by Southwest?" I asked this of my haggard-looking buddy after he returned from the annual music festival. He thought a moment, then said definitively: Theresa Andersson . He went on to describe her this way: "I was on my tenth beer, third hour of sleep and second-half-a-joint when I pushed into the room just before she came on. Wow. I've never seen or heard anything like her. It made me feel as if angels had cracked open my chest, like a cellar door and were flying out by the [...]

I know it's been a while... and I'm sorry. I've been rather busy and distracted lately with not a lot of time to write (or listen really). I'm hoping things can get back to normal a little from this point forward with a couple of posts a week. I've stockpiled some great new music recently, and I still have some stuff in the hopper that I've been meaning to get to for a while. I'm going to do my best to get "back in the swing of things" from here on out. In fact, here's a song called [...]

Watch out, Andrew Bird. There's a new girl in town who's got a lot of sampler pedals and is not afraid to use them with a violin, dulcimer, drum set, and her own set of pipes. Theresa Andersson gives us her own sweet brand of Swedish indie pop in this song from Hummingbird, Go! , out now on Basin Street Records. Recorded at home in her kitchen, Andersson spices up what would be just another cute little song by performing and recording all of its elements on the spot. "Barefoot in the Kitchen" finally has some kind of positive [...]

Posts about Theresa Andersson will continue until morale improves. Don't make me come to your house for a listening party to prove first-hand how lovely her music is. Actually...wait. That sounds like a great idea. I'll bring the pie. Between the gestalt of Theresa's newest album Hummingbird, Go! and her always delightful woman-of-all-trades live shows, she's quickly establishing herself as something of a musical Vladimir Nabokov, who -- for those who aren't currently experiencing a reignited love affair with their long forgotten college reading list 1 -- was [...]
Theresa Andersson [MP3] Theresa Andersson - Birds Fly Away Hearing about Theresa Andersson and seeing her live are two completely different things. The one woman wonder loops all the instruments live and has the voice of an angel. Just watch the video below to get the full effect. Seriously you HAVE to watch. Her new album Hummingbird, Go! Is a delicious blend of folk, jazz, and
Theresa was raised in Sweden but has been based in New Orleans for over a decade. Check out the video of her making some music in her kitchen (where her album was recorded). She released her album Hummingbird, Go! last September and has an upcoming appearance on Conan Obrien (Feb. 4th). She's been talked about in Rolling Stone, Spin, and MTV Buzzworthy, and she's recently been in the studio with David Byrne so it sounds like she's on her way. Theresa Andersson — Na Na Na A video of her playing EVERY instrument and singing this gorgeous song in her kitchen. Um, wow…
Although Swedish-born New Orleans transplant Theresa Andersson uploaded an impromptu video performance of her tune "Na Na Na" on June 8, it has quickly passed 600,000 views and climbing. The reason? She plays everything herself, in her kitchen, using everything but the sink. "The kitchen sounds amazing, it has wonderful, natural reverb," Andersson explained. It's amazing enough: Andersson also recorded her entire forthcoming effort Hummingbird, Go! , due in September, in the same kitchen, using everything from guitar, pedals, violin and drums [...]
I recently got a copy of Theresa Anderson's upcoming album Hummingbird, Go!, and have been rather enjoying it. Some songs remind me of the likes of Feist and Lykke Li , but that's not a bad thing. It's nothing face melting, but what it lacks in rock it makes up for in spades with cute, smooth melodies. It should be noted that she recorded the entire album inside of her kitchen, with her playing every instrument. She lives in New Orleans by way of Sweden (seriously...is [...]
