Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold goes traditional with this cover of 'Silver Dagger'

Fleet Foxes' front man Robin Pecknold has been giving his bandmates a few extra minutes off recently on tour, starting off the first encore with a solo version of "Silver Dagger." The traditional song was brought to popular attention by Joan Baez's 1960 recording, and Dolly Parton did an awesome version for The Grass Is Blue . With all the talk about being a tender maiden and such, this shows that Pecknold will go will where the song takes him, which is pretty awesome. Video: Fleet Foxes - “Silver Dagger” (Live) Along stops of Fleet Foxes’ current U.S./U.K. tour , frontman Robin Pecknold has been taking the stage alone to kick off the encore with his stunning take on the traditional folk song “Silver Dagger,” a cover he first unveiled under his solo moniker White Antelope that was made famous by Joan Baez in the 1960s.
