St. Vincent   crowd surfed and played her little heart out last week while we attended Coachella, she premiered this post punk guitar swirling track 'Krokodil' also and a studio version arrived later (which you can hear in full above) as part of her record store day contribution.  If this is a new direction she's heading into we're certainly not complaining.

Back in May 2011, as St. Vincent, Annie Clark turned heads with a devastating cover of Big Black's “Kerosene”. Later that year, she released her third album and most experimental album yet, Strange Mercy , BPM's #1 album of 2011. Which is to say, when it comes to St. Vincent, one should expect the unexpected. Another Record Store Day release that many were hankering for was a 7" from Annie Clark aka St. Vincent . On that 7" were two brand new tracks from the guitar whiz and boy are they good. The tracks are dirty, fuzzy monsters that you'll just keep on going back to again and again for more listens. Check out "Krokodil" and "Grot" below. "Krokodil" "Grot"

St. Vincent took some new direction on her RSD single for "Krokodil" , a fuzzy two and a half minute foot stomper unlike much else we've ever heard from Annie in the past. b-side "Grot" is similarly surprising featuring eery backing vocals, deranged guitar while Clark sounds like she's going slowly insane throughout.

A stylistic departure from recent album Strange Mercy , St. Vincent 's Record Store Day offerings 'Grot and 'Krokodil' find themselves in gritty, scuzzier territory with dramatic choral vocals and frantic, chopping guitars. You can listen to both, rather brilliant, new efforts below.

More Record Store Day goodness for you. St. Vincent effort for the day includes 2 brand new jams that are both so good. “Krokodil” show Annie get her garage rock cap on, and go balls to the wall apeshit. “Grot” is a 5 minute glitchy heavy rock induced coma of a song. So awesome to hear her on way heavier tracks than usual.

When 4AD claimed St. Vincent 's forthcoming Record Store Day 7" showcased "Clark's aggressive guitar chops and marks a stylistic departure from Strange Mercy," they really weren't kidding. Both 'Krokodil' and 'Grot' sounds like they were dragged up from the depths of hell. Are we sure she didn't team up with Mastodon on this, as well? St. Mastodon?

More from Record Store Day. This time, it's from the lovely, talented, beautiful (feel free to add more adjectives that describe Annie Clark in the comments section) St. Vincent . The red vinyl 73 features two brand new songs: "Krokodil," which you may have heard her perform at Coachella , and "Grot."
