So yeah my Halloween was pretty great. I Passed out some candy, knocked back a few, and watched a scary movie - nice right? Except that while I was doing all of those things the citizens of Louisville, KY were watching Monsters of Folk in full KISS attire cover "Detroit Rock City". Can I get a redo? Video: Monsters of Folk - "Detroit Rock City" (KISS cover) - Louisville Plaza (10/31/09)
At their October 31st show at the Louisville Palace, supergroup Monsters of Folk channeled the rock gods KISS, complete with chains and eight-inch heels. Check out the fan video below.
Ever wonder what Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis, Jim James and M. Ward would look like covering Kiss in full Kiss make-up? Me either. It never even crossed my mind, but I sure as hell wanted to see it when I heard about it. Here's Monsters of Folk performing "Detroit Rock City" in Louisville, Halloween night. Does anybody know if this was the only song they played as Kiss or were there more? Via You Ain't No Picasso

In a recent post we lamented on whether or not Conor Oberst does Halloween concerts, as they might hopefully make him feel less alone with everyone in their mask and costume with him on stage. Well, as it turns out not only does he do them, but he does them very very well. With his Monsters Of Folks team of indie-folk superheroes (him, M. Ward, Jim James, Mike Mogis) in Lousville Saturday, they united as the greatest four man band in the history of the world (no, not that one) and gave a roaring cover of "Detroit Rock [...]

Jambands aren't the only acts that can have fun on Halloween, as the members of the indie-folk super-group the Monsters Of Folk upped the ante on Saturday night in Louisville by donning full on KISS costumes for a cover of the band's signature song Detroit Rock City... Monsters Of Folk - Detroit Rock City (Live)

(photo credit) When you get a group of musicians on stage, all with large personalities, and all used to fronting their own groups, the potential for disaster is not only apparent, but usually imminent. This was certainly the case on Saturday night, when indie-supergroup Monsters of Folk took the stage at the Palace Theatre in Louisville. Seeing how particularly Conor Oberst, Yim Yames, and M. Ward would interact was something that undoubtedly drew in a large chunk of the crowd. Also, let's not forget, that Yames is the frontman of Louisville's most successful band to date, My [...]
Það hefur fylgt hrekkjavöku áratugum saman að klæðast búningum og bregða sér í allra kvikinda líki. Nokkrar þekktar hljómsveitir virðast nú vera farnar að taka upp á því að klæða sig upp sem einhverjar aðrar sveitir í tilefni hrekkjavöku og taka svo sem eins og eina þekju með tilheyrandi sveit á tónleikum. Nú á hrekkjavöku á laugardag mætti hljómsveitin Pearl Jam á svið í Philadelphiu í líki Devo og tók gamla smellinn "Whip It". Félagarnir í Monsters of Folk (Conor Oberst, M. Ward o.fl.) gengu jafnvel enn lengra á tónleikum sínum í Louisville en [...]
Dear people who went to the Monsters of Folk show in Louisville on Halloween, I am jealous of you. Not only could it be the only chance you'll get to see the four of them all together for one show (though I'd love to be wrong), you also got to see them cover Kiss' "Detroit [...]
