In my opinion, Regina Spektor has some incredible songs , so it didn't surprise me when I saw her for the first time on Conan the other night, performing an entrancing version of her melodramatic, piano-laden new single, "Laughing With." I have to admit that Far doesn't stack up to her previous efforts in my mind. "Laughing With" is one of the tracks off the album that I didn't really care for much. But last night she dominated on the Tonight Show. I have to admit that I wasn't expecting much from the performance, and when I heard the opening chords I cringed a little bit, I was hoping she'd do "Blue Lips." So last night was worth staying up for (or TIVOing if you're a prematurely old man like me), as Regina Spektor performed on Conan and Jarvis Cocker appeared on Jimmy Fallon. The incredible success of Regina Spektor's Far album has led to a headlining appearance at the legendary Radio City Music Hall in her native New York. The show is scheduled for October 14, but until then Spektor is continuing to promote the album, and showed up last night (July 30) on Conan O'Brien's show.
