Jay Rock was elected to the 2010 Freshman class by XXL magazine, which allowed him to follow one of the oldest trends in hip hop - once you get on, you put on your people. Jay Rock is putting his efforts into his crew called Black Hippy with Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Kendrick Lamar. I've yet to familiarize with the entire group, but with a name like Black Hippy and the style presented in the video for "Zip That, Chop That" the group teeters between The Pharcyde and N.W.A.
