Today I woke up to the terrible news that Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London flat. For many reasons I am truly gutted. Because she was such an amazing talent who made Soul music fashionable again, because I was hoping that she would recover from her addictions, because I hated the way the tabloid press hounded her, because I interviewed her and she was lovely, smart and genuine; but mainly because her album Back to Black was one of the last albums that I bought on CD and played non-stop. Sad, sad news in the music world today — Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her Camden flat at the age of 27. As of now, there is no official word on the cause of death, but after reports (and photographic evidence ) that the "Valerie" songbird was faring better after rehab, last month she appeared very much not recovered, slurring her words and acting belligerently intoxicated at a concert in Belgrade. UK press is reporting that the troubled singer died in her home today of a suspected drug overdose, though cause of death is still officially unexplained . Despite recently completing a rehab program, Winehouse had to cancel a European tour following a disastrous performance in Belgrade. Like Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix, Winehouse was 27 years old.

Amy Winehouse has died at the age of 27. No explanation has yet been given for the singer's passing. She had been battling drink and drug addictions for a number of years and has also been suffering from emphysema. Winehouse's critically-acclaimed album Back To Black earned her a string of awards, including five Grammys. It also reached platinum status in over 20 countries.
