Vampire Weekend is all over the music blogsphere right now, so I thought I'd show them some love by featuring their new music video for "Mansard Roof". The white color rockers will be releasing their self-titled debut through XL Recordings in digital, CD, and vinyl on January 29th, 2008. P.S. Peep the new video player from MTV which includes the Artist, Song Name, and Label. I never thought I'd say this, but kudos MTV.
It seems the Rumors Laid Waste that the legendary post-hardcore rockers from Seattle were calling it quits turned out to be true. After 10 years of blowing eardrums around the world, the Blood Brothers announced the breakup via their Myspace blog today... Dear Friends, After 10 years of making music as The Blood Brothers, we have made the collective decision that our time together has come to an end. We feel extremely fortunate to have [...]

Do yourself a favor and get track this to all the DJs in your city, cuz' they'll love you long time for it. I can already see the dance floors blowing up. More goodies from The Badical and Badical Beats soon my friends. The Badical - "Ectoh.mp3"
One could describe the music of the brooklyn based duo, Ish , as intelligent indie rock. Their combination of choice instruments, interesting vocal melodies, and clever transitions make their music most premium. I don't know whether it's the use of the children's vocal sample or the unexpected blaring horns that make the hook to "What Is It?" so memorable, but each time this track ends, my only thought is.... I gotta hear that one again. Ish is in the midst of finishing [...]

In case you haven't heard, music is evolving in a world where Internet is king. While many music companies are fighting this natural evolution of music on the net, DeepRockDrive is embracing it. With the growing presence of the web in music promotion, radioplay and record sales are becoming a lost cause, and many artists have turned to their live performance to connect with their fans and bring home the bills. However, it can be financially difficult for artists to tour through every market, and for fans to afford paying for the rising ticket [...]

The band is currently on the road, playing a few more tour dates in the US before heading over to the EU for the rest of their tour. Now, on to the contest. Here is how to win... [...]

According to Billboard.com , music's biggest free agent has just inked a deal with the london-based label, XL Recordings , to release the physical version of In Rainbows in territories outside of North America . If you can recall to a few weeks back, the entire internet went bananas over Radiohead's digital release of I n Rainbows on October 10th through Radiohead.com , and since then, rumors have been flying about when and how the band would release [...]
Since I was unable to score myself a Photo Pass to the 2007 Vegoose Festival in Las Vegas, NV, I will let our friends over at Pitchfork Media do most of the showing for me. Please check out Pitchfork's photos from the Vegoose Music festival by clicking here . The music festival included an incredible performance by the French house music masters Daft Punk , as well as a stellar performances from M.I.A., Queens of the Stone Age, Iggy & The Stooges, The Shins, Ghostland Observatory, Muse, Rage Against the Machine, [...]
If you know about The Anniversary , then you might agree with me in saying that they're one of the most ahead of their time and underrated artists of their time. Back when "pop-punk" was at the height of fashion, The Anniversary was doing their own thing, writing alternative rock songs, doing things DIY, and helping pave the road for what we now know as "indie rock"... bands like Broken Social Scene , The Shins , Silversun Pickups , and Arcade Fire , who have helped make indie rock what it is today, [...]
We've posted about many artists who are having trouble translating to television with their live performances. Perhaps late night television shows and performers in the US should take a lesson (minus the cheese-ball introduction) from Does It Offend You, Yeah? , who compeletely slayed their first television performance on the UK television show "Transmission". The electro-punk outfit played "We Are Rockstars" from their soon to be released EP. Watch and learn kids.
After releasing an EP, and a handful of singles and remixes, the UK based alt-electronic artist Maps have released their first full length album, We Can Create , through London's Mute Records . From the streaming songs I've heard on the band's Myspace Page , you can tell that the mastermind behind the music, Mr. James Chapman, knows exactly what he's doing. He's come up with quite a beautiful concoction of sound that will surely capture the hearts of fans around the globe. Below is the track list for the new record, [...]
If I'm not mistaken, Maps' We Can Create was greatly enjoyed by most of us here at Rock Sellout. James Chapman's gorgeous vocals can be quite addictive, and I know I was hooked from day 1. Lucky for me that my favorite song on the album is the latest single, and it's been given the video treatment. The video seems quite appropriate for the song, as it features a series of characters embarking on a journey for answers to the big questions in life from a silver space egg (well, perhaps that last bit was something [...]
Mute's Maps has a new video for "To The Sky," and we think it's just as pretty as the song from the Mercury Prize nominated album, We Can Create . When talking about the new single, Maps' James Chapman commented, "The lyrics were kind of based around me messing something up pretty badly. I guess most people have been in a similar situation at some point." "To The Sky" [...]
One of the best records of the year has to be James Chapman's one man unit Maps' debut We Can Create , released last June. The album's coloful electro-pop has been well received, landing Maps performances at the UK's Mercury Music Prize ceremony and on KEXP and KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. You can watch the video or listen to Maps new single "To the Sky" below. "To the Sky" in streaming audio: ram wax [...]
