Bad news Electric Picnic-going hopefuls, it's in the Big Top, Galway this summer on Thursday July 23rd. Of course, you may have heard that Galway is where Justin Vernon once spent significant time - we shit you not - selling phones in an Eircell shop on Eyre Square. Here's 'Brackett II' from the recent Dark is the Night compilation. Tickets on sale 9am next Tuesday May 12th €35.50 available from Ticketmaster and usual outlets www.ticketmaster.ie . www.myspace.com/boniver Related [...]

We knew they had great bands (Ringo Deathstarr, Pink Nasty and more). We knew they hosted the greatest music festival in America (sorry, CMJ). Now they roll out the greatest festival of the summer. Remember when Rolling Stone and Spin used to bow at the feet of Seattle? Why aren't they doing monthly, "What are you doing now, Austin?" columns? With the announcement of the Austin City Limits lineup, we thought we'd give you a quick rundown of our "picks to click". Starting from the bottom of the line-up: The Henry Clay People: Pavement [...]

Nu trebuie să fie complex sau complicat ca să fie deosebit de frumos. Cel mai bun exemplu: Bon Iver cântând Skinny Love la The Late Show al lui David Letterman [12 dec 2008]
I hope we all know Bon Iver by now. If not, he released one of the most popular albums last year in the indie scene. Well, January 20 his latest ep will be released. You can pre-order it right now. So rush to the link and ...
The band's most recent album For Emma, Forever Ago is musically pretty simple, but the power lies within the lyrics. Singer Justin Vernon says the song is about "old, sore, lost love" and how it can "damn and/or ambush" future relationships. Very well-written. SongMeanings has some good conversation going if you'd like to read or contribute.
Haven't really got Bon Iver yet but I really like some of his stuff. This is definitely one of the best songs of the year.

This Bon Iver performance of Skinny Love live on Letterman is just as good as you expected from Justin Vernon's band. The 3 sets of drums really add something extra to the song. This makes me want to see Bon Iver live right about now. Check it out below: [mp3] : Bon Iver - Flume Bon Iver On Myspace | Buy Bon Iver CD's any Vinyl from Insound

Justin Vernon and Bon Iver doing "Skinny Love" (from For Emma, Forever Ago on Jagjaguwar ) on The Late show With David Letterman last Friday, December 12.
So I guess it's time to make the best of list. I mean, really, everyone else is doing it. Here is thepunkguy's top.. 16. Not an amazing year for records for me. And as you'll find out very quickly, I barely listened to anything with dominate vocals. Weird instrumental year for me. OUR FAVORITE RECORDS OF 2008 . Rosetta - Wake / Lift (WEBSITE HERE .) This band, almost singlehandedly changed my taste in music this year. Like I [...]
If you start showing up on everybody's Best of Lists for the Year there's only one thing to do. Bleed it dry. You should tour, circle the talk show circuit again, and take advantage of your reclaimed fame. Bon Iver...
This one's a bit late, but it's still terribly awesome: Last Thursday Letterman had Bon Iver on to perform a rousing rendition of "Skinny Love" that has frontman Justin Vernon singing and rocking the guitar and the other three guys in the band working percussion in a drum-circle-esque set-up. "Skinny Love" is one of those songs that kind of worms its way into your subconscious-- It doesn't have much of a chorus, varied instrumentation, or many lyrics you can definitely identify, but you somehow find yourself humming it the rest of the day after you hear it. It's the best discussed artist bio in blogyears: Bon Iver self-released the spellbinding For Emma, Forever Ago in 2007 after spending a now-storied cold season in the Wisconsin woods. His good winter became a storybook 2008, riding the album's widespread Jagjaguwar release to a #3 Best Album showing in this year's Gummys , high praise from corners much further from his backwoods cabin, endless and hailed live sets (including a night at NYC's Town Hall last week), even a production credit on the Land Of Talk record . Justin recently continued preaching to the late night [...]
Bon Iver performed Skinny Love on The Late Show with David Letterman last week. Dave, like many of us did in the beginning, struggles with the pronunciation at the end there... If you missed it... Bon Iver on The Laundromatinee Bon Iver - Flume (live on The Laundromatinee) [...]
On Thursday Bon Iver stopped by Letterman and played 'Skinny Love', you can watch the performance below. Bon Iver - Flume (Live in the MOKB/WEEM studio 4/4/08) [zshare]
