Home and somewhat recovered from the exhaustion of moving office, home and attending a music festival all in the same week, time reasons dictate a slight change to how I'll review Latitude festival, rather than three parts focusing on each day of the festival I'll pick the best parts, the good parts and the bad parts of the weekend (in my opinion). Out of the organisers hands of course was the weather, it was actually better than I expected. Two overnight downpours and another on Saturday afternoon mean the ground was wet and the campsite especially muddy but [...]
Is it just me or does the white-washed video for Zola Jesus' track "Seekir" make her eyebrows looks awkwardly pronounced and dark? That could just be me. Nonetheless, you can form your own opinions about the Jacqueline Castel-directed clip (whether or not they have anything to do with eyebrows) by watch the video below. "Seekir" is taken from the album Conatus , which is out now on Sacred Bones / Souterrain Transmissions Records.

Zola Jesus has been pretty quiet since releasing her album Conatus last year, although we did see her perform with El-P on Conan last month I suppose. Today though we get a new video for her track "Seekir". The heavenly looking video sees Zola dancing along with a gang of all white wearing men (angels?). Whatever they are and it is you can see for yourselves above.
We thought this was just a great pop video - turns out there's a little more to it: "Inspired by the Gurdjieff Movements, a set of sacred dances developed by Russian philosopher G.I. Gurdjieff at the turn of the century, the video is at once simple and incredibly complex and thought out". That's some deep shit

Zola Jesus : Seekir - Video
Everything about Zola Jesus 's Conatus speaks to an other-wordly mystique, from the glitched-out tribal rhythms to the apocalyptically-tinged synthesizers. It's a tone that Sacred Bones ' resident filmmaker Jacqueline Castel tapped when conceptualizing what a video for album highlight "Seekir" might look like. Speaking with Dazed Digital , Castel explains that "like any great pop song or video, the goal was to communicate complexity through simplicity." The result is something along the lines of a dance party for clairvoyants, mixing classic choreography with bold cinematography, fitting with Zola Jesus' own aesthetic perfectly. +MP3: [...]

It's only Monday, but it appears that Zola Jesus would like to get the inter-dimensional dance marathon started well before the weekend arrives. Why wait? In the video for her soaring single "Seekir" (off of last year's stellar Conatus , Zola and director Jacqeuline Castel take viewers to a performance inside an exploding ball of light-not a bad visual metaphor for the feeling that accompanies being introduced to Zola's music. Check out the video for "Seekir" below.

Electro-industrial pop extraordinaire Zola Jesus just dropped the video for her dark dance track "Seekir," off her 2011 release Conatus . If you haven't yet seen Zola Jesus live you should make it a point to do so, it's a spectacle of pure, raw emotion and unbridled energy. It comes across in her music all the time, though it's less easy to capture in her videos but she sure does give it a shot, this time through interpretive dance whilst she's up in Heaven for her Conatus track "Seekir" , directed by Jacqueline Castel.
