Don't be surprised if you see the name Michael Kiwanuka popping up everywhere in the coming months. The U.K.-based singer-songwriter is on the verge of becoming this year's breakout British import, thanks in part to his signature brand of folk-infused soul music. Think something along the lines of Nick Drake meets Bill Withers. Kiwanuka's debut album has warmed my heart countless times since it was released and it really does feel like we're starting to see artists who will stand the test of time. The new video for 'I'll Get Along' was released online this week and it's another soft filtered effort which fits the song beautifully. Michael Kiwanuka just released his new visuals for his single "I'll Get Along", and both the video and song seem as if they were straight out of the 70's. Michael Kiwanuka made a huge splash down at SXSW, and I didn't even go. This artist that the majority of musicheads weren't even familiar with was the talk of the town after SXSW.  Think about that for a second. I read a handful of festival recaps, all of which made a point to tell it's readers to keep an eye out for Kiwanuka - he made that great of an impression (seemingly on everyone.) Michael Kiwanuka 's ascent from unknown troubadour to successful, Black Keys collaborating , retro soul singer has been swift - and rightly so, as the man possesses a rich, peaceful voice and creates warm, comfortable music that is almost impossible not to enjoy. His newest video, for "I'll Get Along," matches the atmosphere of the song perfectly with old polaroid style images of Michael travelling around looking thoughtful with his guitar. Nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable nonetheless. "I'll Get Along" is on Michael's debut album, out now.
