While most of us live in the United States these days, Punknews.org was born and raised in Canada so here is a short bunch of videos from a few of our finest exports in hono(u)r of Canada Day . It's just a quick mixtape of some of the bands that came to mind when we thought of Canada, but please forgive us if we left a band you love out; that's why we have a comments section.
It's that time. The bag is packed, the Ibuprofen stacked and the passport dusted off. The 17th annual NXNE is in full swing, and MOKB is risking international incident to bring it all to you, or at least some portion of the 650 bands on 50 stages. Big names include The Descendents, Swervedriver, Devo, Stars, The Pharcyde, Men Without Hats, Digable Planets, Art Brut, Cults, The Dodos, Deerhoof, Dum Dum Girls, Evan Dando & Juliana Hatfield, Ty Segall and Crocodiles, but we're going to be down in the trenches, mucking it [...]

I am going on a whim and review Toronto's F**ked Up (Sorry I like to censor myself) Couple Tracks 2002-2009. I am not really familiar with the band at all besides what they accomplished in 2009. 2009 was a very prosperous year for the local music scene with already established acts gaining further national and international exposure and the formation of a wealth of new buzz bands, side projects, and collaborations. As we eagerly await the surprises in store for us in 2010, I've narrowed down my picks for the best local bands in 2009 to a mere ten choices.

Watch: 'Crooked Head' - Fucked Up Toronto hardcore punksters Fucked Up have (finally) added a music video to their mammoth arsenal or recorded studio material. 'Crooked Head' is a song of their much acclaimed 2008 release The Chemistry of Common Life. The video is basically a collection of live clips of the band as they assault their crazed fans with distortion and beats. Pink Eyes and Vivian Girls (around 2:30) ensure awesomeness. Take the jump for the video.
