I watched this in it's entirety on Saturday morning and thought it might be worthy to share. Listen to Bruce Springsteen as he talks about the evolution of music and his role within it. It's so well done and a must-watch for anyone who is committed to this lifestyle/ideology of music. Loved it when he mentioned that story about Elvis being the last big rock star that we would all agree on, "you have your heros, I have mine". Really enjoyable.
Although many of the attendees were not even born when he was on the music charts in 1975 with the iconic hit, "Born to Run," the legendary Bruce Springsteen delivered the keynote address at SXSW on Thursday, kicking off Day Two of the famed music conference/marathon in Austin, Texas. Given that Bruce Springsteen has turned in some of the most memorable, insightful, and hilarious Rock Hall of Fame induction speeches over the years - not to mention spoken-word moments in the middle of "Growin' Up" - it should come as no surprise he did just that for the keynote in Austin last week. With thousands of bands performing across town, most of whom hoping for a big break, the Boss discussed his own journey from emerging artist to rock star, his early influences, and the enduring spirit of creativity. Summarizing the tone and [...]
The whole thing. Enjoy. You're welcome. :) "So rumble, young musicians, rumble. Open your ears and open your hearts. Don't take yourself too seriously, and take yourself as seriously as death itself. Don't worry. Worry your ass off. Have unclad confidence, but doubt. It keeps you awake and alert. Believe you are the baddest ass in town -- and you suck! It keeps you honest. Be able to keep two completely contradictory ideals alive and well inside of your heart and head at all times. If it doesn't drive you crazy, it will make [...]
MUSIC NEWS - The keynote address by NJ's BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN this week at SXSW, where he takes us through the history of rock and roll, and his personal relationship with it.
The Boss delivered the keynote speech at SXSW down in Austin this week, and it's definitely worth a watch. As with much of his music, Springteen's speech is centered around great story-telling. It also comes with a nice dose of Rock and Roll history. Descriptive, thoughtful, inspiring. Good stuff.

"When I picked up the guitar (in 1964) there was only 10 years of rock history to draw on." Bruce Springsteen said yesterday near the start of his SXSW keynote. But as he concluded at the end of his wide ranging speech: "Treat it like it's all that we have, and then remember: it's only rock and roll." Watch Bruce Springsteen's SXSW keynote :
