"Kids" is the third single from MGMT's album Oracular Spectacular . It was released as a single on October 13, 2008. Rolling Stone's Kevin O'Donnell described the song as "a noisy New Order-style synth jam". The intro with kids screaming are actually altered sounds of adults. YATM posted a Ben Lee cover of "Kids" via Shoot The Player (an Aussie Take Away Show out of Sydney) back in May of this year. ( M3 ) as well as the Kooks in an acoustic [...]
With Axel back in Detroit* I had to bring in someone else to help me out with these cover posts. So it is with great excitement that I introduce my friend and yours, Officer John McClane, as the newest unoffical member of the Muffin. I asked McClane if he wanted ...
And I mean literally. These talented ladies call themselves "The Mentalist" and with reason, who has the mental capacity to organize such a melody on numerous iPhone's! Anyways it's pretty incredible, and it just goes to show that you can make music with anything! Even if it is a $400 piece of carefully sculpted glass, plastic, and metal. By the way, I found this video on Audio-Fish ! yeahzah
I've heard of this being done with iPhone apps. Hard to tell if it they are actually playing live but it looks super cool.
Sorry to aid Apple's ever increasing world domination but this is pretty good. I could do the same I guess...I just need 3 really funny looking friends apparently, in the words of my older brother "back in your box love."
The Mentalists , a group on innovative British ladies, have done a magnificent cover of " Kids " by MGMT , played entirely on iPhones and iPods. I've got several of these apps on my phone, but haven't managed to pull together anything close to this cool. Have you? --Alan Wiley
Is this the hipsteriest video on the internet? No, but only because these girls seem to be pretty adorable and non-pretentious. Proving yet again that the only thing an iPhone can't do is access my email in Austin during SXSW (not that I'm bitter), the Mentalists performed a version of MGMT's "Kids" using only apps [...]
And now for something completely different... Links: www.myspace.com/thementalists
In this clip, UK band The Mentalists cover MGMT 's 'Kids' using various iPhone/iPod Touch apps.
I was recently browsing the internet, and I saw this meme being blogged/blurbed about in multiple outlets. In the video, a group of free-spirited moms without kids who formed a band instead play the song "Kids" by MGMT on multiple iPhone applications. Is this just some sort of 'marketing gimmick'? Did some ad agency pick 'girls who look interesting' to promote Apple/applications/the band MGMT? Should MGMT sue these people for using their song without their consent? Am I supposed to think that this is 'cool' or that it is 'oddly entertaining'? Should [...]

If you want people to listen to your music, and your chops aren't cutting it, just do what The Mentalists did - pull out your iPhone and shamelessly market yourself covering some other cool band's song instead. Yeah, we couldn't believe it either, so that's why we're showing you the Mentalists covering MGMT 's "Kids". The ability to utilize Apple's ingenious iPhone music applications might not make The Mentalists look like the most musically-able foursome to pop out of England, but it sure is one hell [...]
The most brilliant digital marketing strategies executed by the smartest digital teams quite often don't come close to creating the viral boost that a little imagination, ingenuity and sense of humor can. Music Ally pointed us towards this piece of fun which features indie band The Mentalists using four iPhone apps -Ocarina, Retro Synth, miniSynth and DigiDrummer Lite - to produce a cover of MGMT's "Kid's".

OMG The future is now etc.

This is gangsta. Now that everyone and their moms have iphones and ipod touches, they can also make their own rock bands. Check this video out:
I can't believe they got through this without at least one device's battery failing, or someone receiving a text.
"For all you naysayers out there, I hope you just stop for a minute and realize what is going on here. Instead of saying "This is the most retarded s#$@ ever" take a minute to really grasp what is being done. A mobile device enabling a group of musicians to produce a truly expressive performance, anytime, anyplace. We are approaching Star Wars here. This is groundbreaking no matter how "Retarded" it may seem. This was not possible a year ago. Think about that before you deliver such grave remarks" - ( mulewashere in the video's comment section )
ZACH THAT: Well...man, at a loss for words here...found them: One of the biggest videos out there right now is of a group of women called The Mentalists covering MGMT's "Kids" with their iPhones/iPods. I think "Kids" along with "Electric Feel" and "Time To Pretend" are the only songs on their album worth a damn...but the over-exposure of these three decent singles are getting a little out of control. This video takes the death of music to another level. Joke. It's not the death of music...just really bad...but for some reason [...]
thank you to aj for blowing my mind this morning. this is just awesome
Biz gidip iPhone ile taşı yarışa sokalım . Eline iPhone, iPod Touch alan neler beceriyor...
