Ach, [...]

If you're like me, you're probably currently hating that summer's on its way out despite the fact that the weather is perfectly lovely this time of year. Uh, except for the past few days and all this week. Either way, there's something about listening to your go-to summer playlist after Labor Day weekend that is especially bittersweet. Izabo's "Summer Shade" is one song I wish I'd found earlier in the season, but is by all means still a good track to listen to on your way home on a late summer afternoon in your car with the windows down. Here's this week's Monday Music, the one post per-week where SOIWT drops its London-only focus: Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (Feat. Kimbra ) Break-up songs are usually full of spice and spite, but this one's all perky and pretty. Weirdly, though, the dainty keyboard hops and the library-quiet vocals make Australian multi-instrumentalist Gotye's pain all the more stirring. Israeli band Izabo are offering their latest EP as a free download if you ‘friend’ them on Facebook . This 3-song EP is a scrumptious slice of quirky indie pop; Izabo excel at balmy, buoyant guitar pop songs, with prominent keyboards and kazoo-like background vocals. They favor the Starlight Mints quite a bit, in both their song structures and the vocal timbre of lead singer Ran Shem-Tov, but also incorporate elements of disco and Middle Eastern music. Check Out: [...]
Singing, mustachioed ice cream cones parade through this video for Izabo's "Summer Shade" in the hands of some very disgruntled-looking children. I'd be upset too if I had to eat my ice cream around facial hair.

If mustachioed ice cream cones scare you, then it's probably in your best interest not to watch Izabo's latest music video. Their quirky track "Summer Shade", is the titular single off an EP they recently dropped via Facebook (where you can download it for free). It's a hooky, little, three track release that's full of toy synths, fluttering vocals, and everything else you'd come to expect from a good alterna-pop band. Happy Listening. Click here to view the embedded video. The sun is shining, the weather is sweet and the music blogs are rife with posts full of summer similes. So fire up the BBQ, pour yourself a Mojito and recline into this tasty alternative-pop treat. Described in their press release as Israel’s best export since The Bible, Izabo have just unveiled the suitably sunny video for ‘Summer Shade’, the title track of their brand new EP. A radiant slice of fun, danceable guitar pop, the Summer Shade EP has just been [...]
