Video: James Murphy Shows VCS3 Synth

James Murphy was at the MTV Movie Awards last weekend, and left an illuminating report on the event on his MySpace blog. The singer is currently preparing a new LCD Soundsystem album, which he describes as "a great experience." Murphy has an incredibly collection of vintage synthesizers, and demonstrates one of them in this clip. The legendary English company EMS originally produced the VCS3, also known as "The Putney," back in 1969. The synth is housed in a wooden case and has three oscillators. James Murphy was gracious enough to give URB an inside look during a recent LCD Sondsystem studio session. It's only a brief 40 second clip, but as you can see James Murphy feels right at home with his synthesizers. Erik, I know you are feeling this one.
