Thanks to H from Random Mindless Ramblings for turning me on these guys via email and post . She had seen them open for They Must Be Giants in Minneapolis and was really impressed with the set they put on. A duo from Belfast, these guys, I must say, make some great electro-pop. Their self-titled debut , released via Bar/None Records, is replete with perfect, two-minute, slices of pop. Between their album and the subsequent touring they've done, they've been called everything from sublime (the feeling, not the band) to the Irish Flaming Lips. [...]

Next week should be dubbed Oppenheimer week in New York. The Irish duo is set to play four different shows in New York next week and you wouldn't be out of your mind to try and catch all four shows. It's been more than a year since I first saw Oppenheimer opening up for Hot Chip at the South Street Seaport last year and in that time I have been completely hooked on the band's melding of electronic sounds with pop sensibilities. They also use a vocoder which hasn't been cool since before Frampton destroyed it. [...]
