Dan Deacon Is Not On Acid But hopefully he really is in love with seahorses. Whatever the case, after Sarah Silverman Tweeted about he and Liam Lynch's 2006 video "Drinking Out of Cups" with the note that "Dan Deacon trips on acid" and the clip was subsequently discussed by Opie & Anthony, the DayGlo Baltimorean posted a MySpace bulletin proclaiming that he was not taking acid during the creation of said clip. In fact, he's never tripped on the stuff. It might seem a tad indulgent that he felt the need to proclaim his sobriety in such detail, but he does have some fun [...]

There's no denying the power of Dan Deacon at this point. The man's music is just too fun, too quirky, and way too danceable to ignore or to pass off as hipster trash. His visuals remind me of Tim and Eric skits, and his music is "a barrage of cheap-sounding, rainbow-hued, breakcore-tempo electronic noise" ( P4K ). You really have to watch the video for "The Crystal Cat" for yourself; while you're at it, check out his new record Spiderman of the Rings . It's a really good blast of summer fun. [...]
