![[Undercovered] Rose Elinor Dougall – Come Away With Me](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3207718_lg.jpg)
| Undercovered is a new series of posts where we ask our favourite musicians to wax lyrical about a song they think is deserving of more attention | By Jeremy Jensen ( The Very Most ) It's funny how a style of music can be revived and improved upon, years after its supposed heyday. I know it's blasphemous to even talk like this, but I like Teenage Fanclub a little more than I like Big Star, I like Stereolab more than I like Neu!, and I like Midlake more than I like [...]

We don't expect you to follow along to the beat of our drum every time. We've said it before and we'll say it again; if you're looking for a common thread amongst the musicians we interview it's very simple. We like people who can fashion a great melody. We don't claim to be any more clever than the next person, but we like the hip-hop of Grand Analog, the punk of The Bronx, the shoegaze of Gliss and.... the delicious pop sensibility of Rose Elinor Dougall. The first time we heard The Pipettes, we were charmed [...]

Kudos to Rose Elinor Dougall for taking the high road out of the predictable and kitsch all-female gimmick group The Pipettes last year. Rose has a style that is much more interesting and displays real maturity, I can almost see her moving into darker more experimental pastures. In fact, after checking out her impressive and lengthy list of influences (Portishead, Silver Apples, My Bloody Valentine...) I expect just that. "Start/Stop/Synchro" is rhythmically not that different from her past group's work, but the [...]

Friday, September 25, 2009 Today's Quick Mention: The sudden slew of great shows continues tonight at the Mohawk with buzz acts Cymbals Eat Guitars and The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. And tomorrow? More good times at the Mohawk, but with Lightning Dust. Come and join, friends! I have no idea where my retro-enthused Pipettes have up and gone to, but I'm happy to at least be able to say that one of their former members is keeping busy. Sure, [...]
Rose Elinor Dougal Start/Stop/Synchro : Beautifully shot video, pity they all seem to drown in the end. Rose is so cool and understated. She doesn't even have to try. The song itself is slight on melody and big on mood, but I like it and think it will sound good in the context of an album , which has still not been announced. Wouldn't it be great to get a new one from her and Lucky Soul this fall?

It's been a while since I last mentioned ex-Pipette Rosay. After leaving the group with Riotbecki, she started a solo career under her own real name, Rose Elinor Dougall . To be honest, I had heard a couple of songs, but wasn't entirely hooked. That was until today, when I finally saw her again, in what is her first music video since the departure, a dark, beautifully-shot black-and-white affair for the new single 'Start/Stop/Synchro' . I know those polka-dot days are far behind now, but it is still a bit strange to see Rose in a modern, non-novelty [...]
