Not much news as yet folks, but Grizzly bear have taken to their facebook to announce that they are to begin recording a new album in Texas at the end of the month. The band enjoyed phenonemal mainstream success with their last album "Veckatimest" which was released nearly two years ago now. It seems like an eternity to us. 2009 brought us some interesting videos from some interesting artists. Lady Gaga taught us all about bad romances and pokerfaces. MGMT gave us some videos reflecting their drug-induced parties. Coldplay showed us that yes, even a band of puppets can put on quite the stage show. Tons of websites have versions of these, so I [...]

We'll continue our top 25 countdown with songs #10 through #1. #10: Stillness in the Move - Dirty Projectors As much as people fawned over Merriweather Post Pavilion , Dirty Projector 's Bitte Orca rivaled it many ways. Some would even suggest that Orca surpasses MPP in brilliance with its sheer ingenuity and creative flourish, thanks in part to "Stillness in the Move." Often pop music is regarded [...]
Album #3: Fever Ray by Fever Ray Back in February I said that Fever Ray's debut solo record was one of the best albums of the year. And I wasn't lying. This dark, spooky record got under my skin all year and it still kind of weirds me out whenever I listen to it. Karin Dreijer Andersson is confidently staking her claim as one of the most innovative and talented electronic musicians working today. Also, best videos of the year. Download: Fever [...]

A countdown of the best music videos from 2009.

Grizzly Bear's last album, Veckatimest , has been on constant rotation over here for a while now but I had somehow missed this Patrick Daughters directed video for "Two Weeks". It's been haunting me ever since, I can't stop watching it. At first it's seems a little strange, but it's just so beautifully shot and somehow very fitting for the vibe of this song. I love effects like these (the big eyes, etc) where you can't really tell what's going on for a while, it's so clean and subtle. Warp has a full HD version posted [...]

This is an outstanding fan made video for Two Weeks by Grizzly Bear. It's made by Gabe Askew . Very impressive. And here's the official version but I think I know which one you will prefer.

JellyNYC's LAST Waterfront party of the summer is in just a few hours and not only will there be sets from Beach House and Grizzly Bear but VEGA (aka Ghosthustler aka the dude from Neon Indian) has been added to the lineup! Doors open at 2pm, an hour earlier than usual, and VEGA goes on at 4 followed by Beach House at 5 and Grizzly Bear at 6pm. In other words, I'll see you in line at 10am. Regardless of your opinion about Grizzly Bear's latest effort, you have to give the band credit for trying. Love it or hate it, you can't say the band didn't give it their best shot. That's because Veckatimest sounds like one of the most labored over and carefully composed albums in recent memory. Likely a response to the anticipation surrounding this album in the wake of the critical success of Yellow House , there isn't a note on Veckatimest that sounds less than carefully considered. [...]
