Saturday Night Poopsound
I really love this Yeah Yeah Yeah's song. My question is, why does everyone sound shitty on Saturday Night Live. Everytime some band that doesn't completely blow performs on this show, the next day there are videos of the performance posted everywhere, and they are always really bad. I'm going to blame the Saturday Night Live sound stage for this one. Take for example: The infamous Kanye West performance that, in my opinion, was a direct contributor to South Park labeling him as a "gay fish". [...]
Yeah Yeah Yeahs Try To Add Something To "Saturday Night Live" [Tv Party]
This weekend's Saturday Night Live was another sign that the show's writers are still trying to figure out how to navigate the post-Sarah Palin landscape, with a sorta-depressing skit about host Zac Efron's realization that he will never shake the "teen idol" tag placed around his neck by High School Musical being the nominal highlight; there was also a sketch featuring Bon Jovi "opposite band" Jon Bovi that went on so long, I pictured the show's director waving frantically behind the camera, making gum-stretching gestures at Jason Sudeikis [...]
Ear on TV: Week of 04.13.09 - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Last week's headliner, Yeah Yeah Yeahs , continue their network television attack with appearances on Letterman Tuesday and Fallon on Wednesday, as if taking direction from the title of their latest album, It's Blitz . And with the added exposure, lead singer Karen O seems poised to become this generation's Deborah Harry*. * If I'm dating myself by referencing Blondie , than so be it. Their appearance on SNL this weekend was even better than advertised (scroll down for video,) [...]
LIVE MUSIC: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - "Zero" and "Maps" (Live on SNL)
Anyone who knows me also knows that I hold a grudge against Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs because he gave me the cold shoulder when I tried to booty dance with him during his DJ set at Hiro Ballroom eons ago. That being said, I can't deny liking Zero , their newest single ... and we also LOVE the RAC remix that we may or may not have heard [...]
Yeah Yeah Yeahs on Saturday Night Live
Yeah Yeah Yeahs perform "Zero" and "Maps" on the April 11 episode of SNL.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs:
Yeah Yeah Yeahs performance of "Zero" on SNL (from their surprisingly great It's Blitz ) is eerily similar to the band's performance of the track on Jools Holland last week ; Karen O is wearing the same studded leather jacket, Brian Chase grins throughout ther performance, and Nick Zinner plays the brooding guitar god. The sound mixing wasn't too bad, except it seems like the synth sequence is a bit loud in the mix. Instead of doing another It's Blitz track, the band played "Maps," which is still the band's best song, even [...]
Yeah Yeah Yeahs Take "Zero," "Maps" To SNL
Some surprises on SNL last night. The first being that the show was sorta funny (Videogum will post the best bits tomorrow), and the second being Yeah Yeah Yeahs' decision to play 5-year-old Valentine's mixtape staple "Maps" instead of a second song from It's Blitz! . Hooky new wave single "Zero" came earlier, and legendary post-rock axeman David Pajo's (Slint, Tortoise) support on keys reassured us that despite YYY's synth-pop makeover, we can still count on Nick Zinner for those propulsive riffs. Karen O was all smiles and hand gestures, rocking the leather, leather, leather jacket we [...]
Yeah Yeah Yeahs on SNL 4/11/09
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs performed two songs on SNL lastnight - "Zero" from their new album, It's Blitz!, and "Maps" from their amazing 2003 release, Fever to Tell. I have to say it was great to see Karen O performing live on my TV, and it was a pleasant surprise to hear one of their "older" songs rather than two from the new album. "Maps" is such a great song. I've said it before, and I'll say it again [...]
