This is more about the surprise I felt when an hour after my heart ached for my own mother it ached again in a similar way for someone whom I have never actually met. So I've spent probably months listening to the Beastie Boys. So what? This gives me the right? The short answer is "Yes. Yes, it does." My mom was admitted to the hospital on the day that MCA announced he had cancer. I'm tempted to say that it was nothing serious, but did I mention that she was admitted to the hospital? She had been sick [...]

A tumor was found in one of his Parotid Glands which is located in the back of his throat. "luckily it was caught early and is localized in one [...]

You've probably seen this by now, but figured I'd post it anyway. The Beastie Boys are taking a haitus from their new album and touring due to Adam Yauch's health. If you haven't seen the video, click above. A big Get Well Soon to MCA from We Listen for You.
MCA announced via YouTube yesterday that he's been diagnosed with cancer of his salivary gland. Joined in what appears to be an impromptu video by Ad-Rock announcing the cancellation of all tour dates, and the postponement of their album release. The good news is that the cancer is localized, and MCA should be fine after medical treatment. Best wishes to Adam Yauch and the Beasties during what will hopefully become just a tiny footnote in their Wikipedia pages. Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 was [...]
(Note: I prepared this post on Sunday night. By Monday, I think most music fans heard the news that Adam Yauch (aka MCA) has been diagnosed with cancer of a salivary gland, forcing the Beasties to cancel tour dates and push back their album release. Yauch will need surgery, but the cancer apparently is treatable. So here's hoping for a speedy and full recovery.) Thanks to Spine Magazine for offering up what I still contend to be one of the more unlikely collaborations – and, yet, Beastie Boys and Nas [...]
I totally forgot two things when I posted the last bit, but here they are now. 1. Thanks to everyone who linked to my write-up of Axium's album earlier this week. The response on that has been both huge and positive. Glad to see such great feedback. Welcome to all newcomers to the site who've found me today! 2. I wanted to post this in honor of the 40th Anniversary of the moon landing today, since I was unable to find a suitable Album A Day for it, but here it is anyway. [...]
The sad news has already circled around the Twitter Universe, but for those who may not know Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch (MCA) announced this morning that he had been diagnosed with a small tumor on his parotid gland in his neck. Fortunately for Yauch the tumor was discovered early enough that the cancer had not spread and could be much more easily treated. However, the group was forced to cancel all of their remaining Summer tour dates and push back the release of their upcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 . [...]
The most gravelly-voiced Beastie Boy Adam Yauch delivered "some pretty heavy news" via the group's website revealing that he recently found a small lump in his throat that has since been diagnosed as salivary gland cancer. Thankfully for fans, the cancer is localized to one area, is highly treatable and won't affect his voice with the fairly optimistic Yauch explaining “This is something that’s very treatable and in most cases it’s, um, they’re able to completely get rid of it”. Yauch will undergo medical treatment next week forcing [...]
MCA announces he is ill with cancer and the Boys cancel all upcoming performances.
Adam Yauch from The Beastie Boys has been diagnosed with cancer. in his left parotid (salivary) gland. The tumor was detected early and localized in a single area, so hopes are high for effective treatment. The tumor is not located where it might affect Yauch's vocal chords. Here's the video from him on the Beastie's website. Here's a couple songs to harken back to that original Beastie Boy sound: Egg Man - Beastie Boys Hey [...]

Via: The Scenestar One of our favorite hip hop vocalists, Adam Yauch, AKA MCA, of the Beastie Boys has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor and is currently being treated. The Beastie Boys have canceled all scheduled tour dates and pushed back the release of their latest album as member Adam Yauch is being treated for a cancerous tumor in his salivary gland. Yikes! Yauch will undergo surgery next week, followed by radiation treatment. He said the cancer is localized to one area, which Yauch said was "convenient."
