Sad news from the Beastie Boys camp this morning that the band has postponed the release of their new album and have canceled their upcoming tour and festival appearances - including All Points West - as MCA has been diagnosed with a treatable form of cancer. The Beastie Boys have canceled upcoming tour dates and pushed back the release of their forthcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 because Adam "MCA" Yauch has a cancerous tumor on his left parotid gland, which is one of the body's major salivary glands . Yauch will be undergoing surgery and treatment and the Beasties will be on hiatus while he recovers. (The tumor isn't located in a place where it could affect his vocal chords.) Adam "MCA" Yauch of Beastie Boys was diagnosed last week as having a cancerous tumor in his left parotid (salivary) gland. This was caught early, but does require surgery and weeks of treatment. It will not affect his vocal chords. However, to allow time for his surgery and recovery, the Beastie Boys have canceled all upcoming tour dates including Lollapalooza to allow Yauch time for the surgery and recovery.
