You know. Some weekends kick ass and it was mine that got kicked this weekend. My normal writing's are inaccessible to me today and I just don't have enough of my wits about me today to be able to whip something up. So you're gonna get this disjointed blurb today. Today we get a little bad news coming out of Atlanta. Missy Gossip and the Secret Keepers have gone their seperate ways. Hopefully Ms. Lauren Staley will surface with a new project soon as I just love her voice. [...]
Well, the Oscars were on last night. Did any of you watch it? I went along with Blogness On the Edge of Town and boycotted the whole thing. I still cannot believe that Springsteen's "The Wrestler" wasn't nominated. It's ok if someone else wins, but the "Academy" should have at least recognized the strength of the song and how it related to the film. I got to hang out with Bruce the other day and had the opportunity to ask him about how he felt about the Oscar snub. Bruce put his hand on my shoulder and [...]

This is a great song, but I am tired of it. Maybe this video will bring it back to life. *Watches video* *Unwatches video* I need to see The Wrestler . PigeonsandPlanes
How could Bruce be robbed of an Oscar nomination after winning a Golden Globe? Nobody knows, but everybody surely agrees he should have been there. Check out the video for one of the best songs of Working On A Dream,...

As the videos for original songs attached to movies often are, this one is basically shots of the artist looking serious intercut with footage from the movie. This clip for "The Wrestler" has Bruce Springsteen standing in the ring looking pensive and a little bit weathered (but not as weathered as the actor who portrays the title character, Mickey Rourke), and delivering the song's over-the-top lines as straight as possible, because they fit the film's story so well. The Academy Awards are this Sunday, and no, Bruce Springsteen is not nominated for one. The Boss's last album, Working On [...]

A song worthy of the fantastic film.

Here is the official video for "The Wrestler."

You can argue the ins and outs of Best Song Oscar eligibility until you're Mickey Rourke's reconstructed sadness mug in the face, it doesn't change the fact that there is only one song that should win that award and it is this song. Mickey and Bruce's sort of adorable (and now highly publicized) friendship factors in, because Springsteen penned this one by deeply understanding and inhabiting the film's tragic hero, and nobody needs to hear more about the similarities between Rourke and Randy The Ram. But while we're there: Rourke should win Best Actor, too. Fivethirtyeight.com dude [...]
